Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I use Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I have a great deal of trouble connecting to Steam. It took me 4 hours to log into Steam to access the BattleTech game download. It took me a couple hours to get the patch downloads and I still have not been able to connect to Steam to get 1.04. I would like an alternative to Steam to keep my game updated. PLEASE!

Steps to reproduce the issue
Try to connect to Steam.
Get messages that say that I cannot connect.
Turn off all anti-virus and firewalls
Run Malwarebytes
Run MicrosoftEasyfix 20140
Restart computer
Run Steam as Administrator
Do this over and over until I can finally connect
Attempt to control my anger

Well, I managed to connect to Steam but I had to delete it and reinstall Steam. That resulted in me losing my saved Campaign because I had to re-download my game. If this is going to happen to me every time there is a patch then I will either not play or I will never patch.

Please give us a way to patch without using Steam.

I am sorry that you are having such problems with your Steam installation and connection! This is unusual in the extreme, but Steam installations must be patched via Steam, or a verify will actually undo them. There's no chance that a non-Steam patch for Steam users will be released.

I can only suggest contacting your ISP support and Steam support , in parallel. Logging into Steam is normal and necessary for this and many games and only takes a few seconds normally. Something is very wrong! Indeed Steam normally starts and logs in automatically when you start your computer, and you should just leave it logged in and running like that.
