One line summary of your issue
Defend the Star Port/Barraks

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The Starving masses need this space port but mission fails in 2 rounds. The enemy enters the field and move far enough to stay out of stomping range. On the 2nd round they drive past the 2 assault mechs into the command center MISSION FAILS.

The barracks has an enemy Commando APC drop 1 round away from them. It takes 3 rounds of Sprinting to each them. That part is an Instant fail before it starts.

Classic BAD DESIGN. [Mod edit: Disrespect ] designing a Priority mission that fails in 2 rounds.

Steps to reproduce the issue
Mission starts:
Riound 1:
I move my fastest mech towards the barracks and am confronted with 3 mechs, and an APC [primary target]. I move my second fastest mech towards them and start firing at nearest enemy [APC is out of range]. Another drop ship puts 2 APCs on the opposite side of the space port , and they drive past the Drop ship. I move my Assault mech at it, and Alpha strike it , but only Scratch it with 95% hit rate [2-srm6, LL, 3ML]. I move my last Assault mech to intercept the new threat.

Round 2: the enemy apc drives past my Assault mech into command center Mission fails.....

It is not easy but the mission can be completed. Saving the barracks is very difficult but does not cause a complete mission failure. you have to send two mechs left and two forward and slightly right on the first round. Use precision targeting to kill the APCs in the first two rounds. Large caliber weapons help IE AC10, AC20, Gauss Rifle, PPC and LRM20.

Is it the mission where you had the optional goal to defend the barracks during a defence story mission?
If yes, defending the barracks is an optional goal and not needed to be done in order to accomplish the mission at all.
I guess you can do it by suicidal rushing one 'Mech to get LOS on the APS in Question and just delete it, but I forfeited this option in order to defend the spaceport.

Well many understood most of what I was saying but missed the Point that the APCs just drive past you on round 2 and mission fails.

I did find a Working tactic to stop them. I parked a mech in each archway blocking them from entering. Then stepped on them. As for the Barracks portion of the mission it took me 3 rounds to get to the entry way of the barracks ground , but the commandos got there on round 2.

Having the enemy Land - deploy - and Move , then the combat round starts and they go 1st. 2 rounds are almost instant.

The vehicles drive to the star port and do not bother with firing. Actually I had one APC entering the starport as I prioritized killing a SRM Carrier in a turn before.
I killed that APC in initiative phase one of the turn (the APC entered in phase two) and did not lose the mission.
It appears to me that you only lose the mission, if you have an enemy APC in the spaceport area at the start of the turn.
