One line summary of your issue
CTD during prepping for a mission

What platform are you running the game on?

Steam

What operating system do you use?
Windows 10 Pro
Which version of the game are you running?
1.8.0-629R
What DLC do you have installed?
Flashpoint,
Urban Warfare

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Quite often, but not always, my games crashes to desktop during it's prepping for a mission loading. It first freezes the loading screen, then briefly pops up a small window (as shown in attached screenshot) and then closes. The small popup window thingy usually is only shown for less than a second but this last time it showed for a couple of seconds and I managed to screenshot it.

I've noticed that it seems to be when loading into city maps when this is happening. Sometimes it takes 3-4 tries before the loading actually succeeds. This last time it was when trying to load into the first mission of a flashpoint.
Have you tried verifying your files?
Yes

Steps to reproduce the issue

Attach DxDiag (PC), System Info log (Mac), or run sudo lshw -html > specs.html and uploaded specs.html (Linux)

Attach Output Log
Windows: \Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH\output_log.txt
Mac OS: Users >{name} > Library > Logs > Unity > Player.log
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Harebrained Schemes/BATTLETECH/Player.log

If the game crashed, please attach the crash file with the time stamp closest to the crash.
Windows: [Steam library folder]\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\DumpBox

OSX: Macintosh HD > Users > [username] > Library > Application Support > Steam > steamapps > common > BattleTech > DumpBox
Linux: [Steam library folder]/steamapps/common/BATTLETECH/DumpBox

How to edit the topic?

It's supposed to be CTD, not CDT

Fixed!
Also, is that an output log right after this happens (and before restarting the game)?

Now that you mention it, I did restart the game during making my initial post, since I didn't know the game version.

But now it just crashed while in battle when a Raven was about to explode. Should I upload that output thingy?

EDIT: I added the output log anyways.

EDIT2: This was also on a city map.

I've actually kept track of that during gameplay and it's never been even at 10 out of 16 gigs in use.

Yep, certainly a memory issue:
DynamicHeapAllocator out of memory - Could not get memory for large allocation 16192576!
Could not allocate memory: System out of memory!

Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16342MB RAM
Page File: 8090MB used, 8250MB available
Please try increasing your Windows paging file to 32gb.

If no good still we may have a Unity or game memory allocation bug here.

Yep, certainly a memory issue:

Please try increasing your Windows paging file to 32gb.

If no good still we may have a Unity or game memory allocation bug here.
Since I didn't use a pagefile, I created a 16gb pagefile and then I ran the Siegebreaker flashpoint without a hitch. That was three back-to-back city missions that would have normally caused a CTD or two, so the issue seems to be fixed.

I do have however a follow up concern:

Previously I have ran my computer without any pagefile at all and with 16gb ram and this has worked perfectly for years. It was only recently when I started playing Battletech again that I started to have these issues with CTD's and this was only occuring with Battletech. It went so far that I started running it in windowed mode so I could have the windows task manager in the background so I could keep an eye on stuff like memory usage. This never went to even 10 out of the 16 gigs I have but still it seems to be an out of memory issue.

So is it that Battletech needs it to be pagefile memory specifically and if so why can't it use the ram I have instead (or is there a way for me to make it use the ram instead of pagefile)?

Apps can't make memory management decisions like that, only Windows itself. My impression is something has changed in that area in recent Windows patches, but I'm not up enough on the insides of Windows to say what exactly. FYI our other major Unity game CSL sees similar issues.
