One line summary of your issue
Completed priority mission but it's still offered, story will not advance

What platform are you running the game on?

Steam

What operating system do you use?
Windows 10
What version are you running?
1.3.0-413R
Do you have the Season Pass / Flashpoint installed?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I completed the Tyrlon priority mission. It appeared to complete without issue: met objectives, I extracted, passed through the post-battle salvage screen, etc.

Checked contracts again and Tyrlon is still offered. I started it to see if it would load up and it did. I quit the mission, loaded a manual save from after completing it the first time, and ran some side missions to see if it would clear on its own, but it hasn't - I've done four side missions now in two different systems but the story has not advanced beyond Tyrlon.

I have not tried completing Tyrlon a second time. If it's possible to manually advance to the next story mission I would prefer that.

I have not modded the game in any way.

Attached screenshot is my list of saved games. Note how I have manual saves in the Tyrlon mission, then manual saves in the Tyrlon system post-mission, than an auto save from launching Tyrlon a second time.

Happy to upload a save if you give me instructions on how to find those. Checked through my steamapps folder and my windows user dir but didn't find anything.

Steps to reproduce the issue
Not sure if I can reproduce, this is the first time it's happened.

Attach Output Log
Windows:
Mac OS:
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Harebrained Schemes/BATTLETECH/Player.log

I had the exact same issue happen today with Tyrlon.

I played it through and finished it successfully with about 5 turns to spare, all Spiders and forces killed. It would not advance though. The game showed me only the Tyrlon mission even though it had finished. I played it through a 2nd time and the issue remained and would not advance.

This was after the latest patch and I have d/led the DLC. I have played the campaign twice before and never had this issue on Tyrlon or any other campaigns not updating after completion.

I have Windows 10, Steam, everything as above.

Thanks for the post. Maybe something is now bugged with Tyrlon in particular in 1.3? I started my campaign before 1.3 (this is my first playthrough), and I think Tyrlon is the first campaign mission I've played since the 1.3 patch, but I could be wrong.

Is it the case with you also that you started the campaign before 1.3 and updated right before Tyrlon? Or did you run other campaign missions first?

Got it:

I was looking for the same issue. Now I don't know if this part is a bug, or is working as designed. Here I am having just finished off the final Spider in my 2nd attempt at this mission today:

Now you will note that everything was updated. But here I am later in the same mission.

Do you see how later in the mission it's telling me that "artillery is going to hit" but there was no more artillery. Now that may have been the same before and isn't something of note, but i had the display for that in both of my successful runs through Tyrlon today that didn't take.

EDIT _ And this also happened with the "artillery" hits in the corner in my first successful run through as well.

I had that same artillery hits message on my playthrough of Tyrlon, I remember being surprised that no artillery hit on the same turn I killed the final spider, because earlier in the mission I figured that killing the spider would stop the artillery strike so I walked one of my mechs into the strike zone like a doofus.

Right, I saw that message the entire last third of mission, after the third spider landed.

So you don't recall having that happen when you completed Tyrlon and advanced the story on an earlier campaign?

I just flipped back to campaign from career mode and played Tyrlon again. The story correctly advanced afterward, to my relief.

I did have the stuck "artillery hits in one round" objective again. The third spider came in with the dropship, but never threw up any target zones. I killed it that same turn and no artillery fell. But it didn't block the mission from completing or the story from advancing.

All I really lost was some time/money flying around for a bit hoping the story would unstick itself. Hopefully this is the worst bug I encounter...

I had this issue, but with Defense Smithon. Now that I have completed the mission twice, further missions have refused to show up. How can I force the next mission to trigger? I have run about 20 side missions since the Smithon priority one and have no old saves to reload as I deleted them.

I am having the exact same problem with the Smithon mission. Completed the mission just fine, but it is still showing up as a Priority Mission and will not go away.

Thanks for the confirmation, sozin! I will give that a try, as I stopped playing the game because of this and am looking forward to getting back into it. Figures it happened as I was really getting into the storyline, lol.

BTW, did you follow those instructions exactly? i.e. Did you cut an paste the same code he used, or did you use something different. Also, I have "Smithon_Defense_Default.json" and "Smithon_Defense_Template.json" in the "Smithon_defense" directory. I assume it is the "_Default" file?

Don't alter the Smithon file -- here's what I did

1) Opened up the game and picked out a mission. Luckily, he and I both had the same next mission. Find that mission (I play on Linux so I did a $ find . -name "*Brilliant*" -print from my zsh).
2) Close the game and back a backup of that file.
3) Pop open that file and add the code he listed:

"OnContractSuccessResults": [],

to

"OnContractSuccessResults" : [
{
"Stats" : [
{
"typeString" : "System.Int32",
"name" : "NextStoryMilestone",
"value" : 521,
"set" : true,
"valueConstant" : null
}
]
}
],
4) Save the file and exit
5) Open the game and do that mission. Play and after about 5 or 10 minutes after the misison completes successfully you should get the next story mission
6) Finally move the backup .json file you made of the file back to its orginal so that you don't get stuck in a mission time machine the next tme that template is used :)

Ok, sorry if I'm being obtuse, but just want to make sure I have this right, so ...

1) I have played the CAMPAIGN mission "DEFENSE: SMITHON" and completed it successfully. In my Available Contracts is that same mission, thus the issue.

2) The only other mission available is called "DROP INTERCEPTION". So are you saying I should play DROP INTERCEPTION ... or just select it and negotiate it I'm guessing?

3) Then after doing one of the above, find the directory and JSON with file name "Drop Interception" in my case, back it up. Then open that file up and cut and paste the above into the file and save, play the mission and I should be good to go?

Sorry, that seems so counter-intuitive to me, seems like the Smithon mission is the one with the issues.

My bad! I thought you had already completed the Smithon mission.

First, play the mission a second time. Enjoy the easy xp and money all over again!

Then, after you complete it, pick a completely new mission. This new rando mission is the one you will change the .json file for, using the method described above.

Good luck man and no worries let’s get this done right so your epic mecha space adventure can continue !!

Thanks for your patience and help! Will give it a shot. Was trying to avoid playing that mission again -- it is NOT the most difficult of the missions so far (althoug at first it seemed pretty daunting). Do you know why you have play it again if you have already done it once for this method to work?
