Can't load Battletech through the new steam play beta

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Battletech is set up as having a 'linux distribution', but the distribution is just an empty placeholder folder, also with a token jpg wallpaper in it if you happen to have the shadowhawk pack.

This means that if you attempt to install it via linux using the new steam play proton system, it will prefer the linux version instead of the windows version with no option to override this, because there is no reason for steam to assume that game listed with linux compat would not in fact have any linux compat.

This is _not_ a steam issue.

As a bonus, if you add a steam library folder that contains Battletech's windows distribution to steam play, it will delete the data and overwrite it with the linux distro, which is an empty folder (with dlc jpg). This last part, however, IS a steam bug and I'll be reporting it to them.

Steps to reproduce the issue
Have some linux distro
Install steam and opt into the Steam Play beta
Assume you'd be able to download the windows verison

<Steam> "gosh look at that the game is listed as having native linux compat, see the native linux distro installed 100% correctly! Why would you ever want to use the windows distro of it?"

The Linux build is not released yet.

Is this a steam issue then? Defaulting to it.

Also having this problem. In the new steam beta, every other game that doesn't have a Linux version let's you download the Windows version to try and run via Proton (Valve's fork of wine), but Battletech seems to have a placeholder distribution for Linux released on Steam. Steam doesn't let you download the Windows version to run trough Proton because of that.
