After the logos flash onto the screen, the cursor changes and the screen goes black. If I move the mouse, the words *PRESS ESC TO EXIT* appear in the top left corner however pressing escape has no effect.

Also not able to connect Paradox to GOG

Steps to reproduce the issue
Happens every time game is loaded

Files have been verified,

Codecs have been downloaded

Same here - I start the game via GOG and after the ATLAS logo is shown the screen goes completely black. I do hear the intro music though and if I press ESC the game seems to switch to the main menu (again the music is there). However I cannot play the game. The only thing visible is the cursor but nothing else.

Also verified the game, reinstalled it, start it in window mode, switched the OS screen resolution, installed latest Nvidia graphic drivers - but nothing works.

This happens on the PC. If I try to run it on my Mac, the game starts up. Does anyone have any more ideas on what to do here. This is really annoying.

I did check the file BATTLETECH/BattleTech_Data/StreamingAssets/tools/win/DetectedResolution.info. The file contains the following three lines:
0
1920x1080
<empty line>

This fits to my desktop resolution. However the game now starts in window mode and the corresponding window is significantly smaller than 1920x1080.

I found them from the paradox support faq, I didn't think they helped but since I reinstalled, all good! Just finished the second mission after the tutorial, no issues so far. I believe it's something to do with they not bundling the codecs needed to watch the cut screens in with the game so the first cut screen it comes to, the game can't proceed.

Other suggestions have included deleting the cut screens but this made more sense. I didn't think it had worked at first but I pressed escape just as the first cut screen started and it actually skipped.
