One line summary of your issue
BattleTech doesn't open the New Campaign or Skirmish screens
Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have installed BattleTech via the Paradox Interactive Launcher (not from Steam). The game start normally, Opening cinematics run normally, ESC allows bypass of cinematics correctly. Game main screen opens normally and settings
access works. When I try to start a New Campaign, or enter the Skirmish options, I get a black screen with the helpful tips & progress spinner in the upper right hand corner, but the the game never loads the next screen . I've let
this load screen run over 2 hours at one point and it never goes to the next screen. It does not change the issue whether I am playing offline or logged in on the Paragon Launcher. The only way out of the Load screen is Task Manager
to kill the program execution.
The same stalled load screen occurs when I log-in to the Web through the game. The game shows a spinner and "Loading Heraldry Options", and runs until BattleTech.exe is ended.
I have now un-installed and re-installed the game twice, the second time was a "clean" un-install (i.e. removed all files & registry keys). After the first re-install, once (5/12/2018), I got the game run correctly in New Campaign
mode, playing through the Character creation, traiing tutorial, and the first two storyline combats. Game appeared to save correctly when I got to the Dropship screens. All video & audio settings were install default and ran fine, no
lag, no skip, no observed problems
On return to the game on a later day, the reported issue returned and has not abated, even after the "clean" un-install on 5/18/2018.
After the first re-install and the successful play through, following the re-occurance of the issue, I put in a bug-fix report. Paradox Interactive Issue #137682. I am attaching a text extract of the final e-mail from Dylan Skoda.
