One line summary of your issue
AKSoundEngine.dll

What platform are you running the game on?

Steam

What operating system do you use?
Win10
What version are you running?
beta 1.3.2
Do you have the Season Pass / Flashpoint installed?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
What is the status of the fix for this bug? The Beta update broke the beta for this so basically the game is now unplayable.

And for those who havent gone through the dozen threads there are no long-lasting fixes. Everything tried will eventually crash (sound card off, drivers off, sound turned down, use beta, etc etc).

Steps to reproduce the issue
Play the game. Crash during a mission at some point both career and campaign all versions currently available of Flashpoint. Reposting because my thread was marked resolved which it clearly was until HBS broke the beta with the latest update.

I've found something that seems to work for my system.

First a warning! I'm moving around game files and I haven't tested this on any other system so I have no idea if it will be stable. Use at your own risk.

I hypothesized that AKSoundEngine was choking on input so I went into BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio created a new folder called Storage and moved all of the audio files in there. You would think that would crash the game but no, when it doesn't find the sound files it just doesn't send them to be played. Without input AKSoundEngine doesn't seem to activate and so doesn't break.

Interestingly moving AKSoundEngine.dll itself does not work. The game won't load without it, but for me moving the audio files does.

Sound doesn't work but I've played >15 missions without a crash and before I was averaging ~2 missions per crash.

Exactly the kind of thing that "should" work, programming wise.

Sound, and to a lesser extent graphics, are like 95% of game crashes. There's most likely a try/catch clause around the "load audio file" portion so if it doesn't find the file it just does nothing.

Once the file has started loading, there is probably no try/catch to keep it going, leaving the system wide open to a bad audio stream. There probably can't even be one.

If the game gracefully fails every file load, it can't experience a not gracefully fail situation.

If you are still crashing even after moving the audio files and failing every load, the crashes probably come from something else like graphics.

Can you clarify "all of the audio files"? Is it the entirety of that folder, or only specific file types?

So I did my own testing. I removed PluginInfo.xml and SoundbanksInfo.xml from where I found them at \BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\GeneratedSoundBanks\Windows. I get full audio and the game doesn't break. I've completed several deployments in a row without quitting or crashing.

I have to say that I have seen one crash since I did this, many missions later. (I didn't research that new crash, and I've only had just that one.)

Get rid of the entire audio folder is what I have done. It sucks, but it's somewhat tolerable with some metal music going. In saying that, I'm delaying purchasing DLC until this is fixed.

I muted my game so that I can talk with a friend in discord and every single time got a akaudio crash, but when the master volume is on full not once does it crash. Are the people running this game with master volume on full? Or less than full? If so, that might help narrow down what is causing it.

I went there, Inside the \audio folder is just another folder, 'GeneratedSoundBanks'
Do I just put that whole folder in 'storage'?
I see no actual audio files there, so I'm confused.

Delete the whole audio folder. see if that works for you. Worse case, you can just get Steam to verify local files and it will reinstall the audio folder for you.

That's my experience anywaay
