I have a question to the Battle summary.

We know how many planes or ships (and what kind of them) are in a aircraft-battle-summary and navy-battle-summary.
but it is possible to see how many (and what kind of them of ) troops are fighting in a land-battle and how many have fallen (after a battle)?

Something like that (during a battle)

Kind of needs something. I just assumed they would have something. Maybe it's hidden away in a ledger or they had it turned off.

That information is not very useful. So many battles will happen but who win or lose a battle is not that important in the grand scheme. What is important is the overall status of your divisions at each front and that information is already in the game.

On the Hearts of Iron 4 wiki they say the following thing: You will now see results like "10 heavy tanks destroyed" rather than some abstracted strength percentage..
So I guess they will show you the statistics.

We could chat usefulness and see the merits of only of focusing on big picture and/or occasionally analysing KEY battles.

But that is not the point. The point is they can be so immersive to get an figure on what specific engagement cost- especially the KEY battles.

Well, equipment and men lost is tracked, we know that. But i dont know/think that we will get those per battle screens, since they will overwhelm you pretty fast.

i think most people especially when they play multiplayer will play the wars at speed 1 especially after seeing how fast the war was progressing in the www how is effective micro suppose to be implemented when the speed goes so fast. like johan said manpower is precious and i have no intention wasting mine because i wanted to speed through a war.

In Hoi, I pause often to review situation, and go speed one, often watching or dipping into key battles.

Results pop-ups. Well instant close many of them. Skim many more; and really look at Key and Big battles.

Pop-ups would still work for me. But I guess a more optimal way could be a history record in a ledger format. Saved for later reflections, musing AARs

If you select a division that is in combat you can see how well your divisions are doing compared by the enemy ones. The battle summary would only tell if you lost or won the battle and how much you lost which have practically no value other then if you are going to reload the game and avoid a poor battle.

But the game do show how well your divisions are doing in battle while it is ongoing so that information is not needed.

Then the game probably have some sort of battle summary but it may not be the same one as the one in HOI3.

I too play this way. I'll let it tick for one day until 8:00 and then check on everything. Only fun if you like to micromanage your army of course. It is also only necessary during the huge wars like Ger. vs. Solviets, etc.

Kind of on the topic but also kind of off so just a warning, But I really enjoy the way that they do the naval battle summary. I'm curious if they could somehow implement that into the infantry battles for those of us that like those after battle numbers. Of course you couldn't have the same pop up on the map you get for the navy but I'm sure there is some solution to that.

Generally, the use I found for the summary's IRL was that I would boast to my girl friend about how my armies killed x amount of troops and only sustained x loses with the intent of showing her how I was able to annihilate the enemy with my superior enemies. Usually I'd get a nod or a "that's nice dear" and move on.

Is it nice to have, yes, but is it mission critical, no. Although I do like how in EU4 it shows a list of the everyone's troop counts and a list of battles and such in the war screen.

In the last WWW, week 4, Germany did not know that GB had invaded Germany, classic need for a pop up to inform you of events not within your current focus.

Yes, but I haven't explained it clearly enough. Coloured Battle stars say how well Divs are doing generally 55% yellow/green. Very broad indication of how it goes. Click on division again battle bar at top is broad idea via a bar. And we can see strength/org, general etc.

Your questioning made me re-evaluate. And now I see that loss info is even more relevant now we have individual equipment and vehicles. I guess we will get a war summary in ledger at some point. But an breakdown of losses/ damage dealt per battle can give us more fine tuned analystics for say eg. roughly loosing more tanks per battle in this area vs that area. Football analogy: Over views your saying is like a manager just wanting to know result of game or how game is going. Battle info more like seeing the tactics and seeing how players are doing in the matches.

Also a BIG one. I find it an immersive fun multiplier to see individual battle losses.

Kind of on the topic but also kind of off so just a warning, But I really enjoy the way that they do the naval battle summary. Air loses is really cool too. Maybe there could be a land one.
Also air loses in the battle screen is super cool. A tab to switch that to ground losses would rock.

I think so too, i would like to know how many soldiers (or tanks) are fighting in a battle, how much died and how much are injured.
I think its important for the depth of gameplay.
And It would be cool to see some statistics like "Afrika Corps lost X Soldiers, X Tanks, X Planes since xx.xx.xx"

Someone knows "the operational art of war" ?

I always wants a 'Operational Art of War' with a grand strategy layer. HoI4 seems to be heading so very close.
