I'm new here. I'm sure I've put this in the wrong place but as it so happens that isn't my fault. For some reason it keeps telling me 'I cannot access this page' so if a mod sees this please dont add it to where it should be because else I won't be able to add to it.
First off I drew alot of inspiration from performers work 'Storm over Tintagel' and wanted to write my own AAR for Cornwall but just enjoyed playing too much it was too late. So I decided to play as Exeter and make an AAR from there.
Start off
Robert de Conteville is becoming old. He has made many friends and only a few rivals and in his long life he seen England explode into civil war follong the Conqueror's death. England is now stable albiet a few feuds in the north, following Robert 'Curthose' de Normandie ascent to power Robert 'switched sides' to the Duke of Brittanny.
The war hit England hard, losing her foothold in Europe when Normandy itself refused to recoginse the new King.
The westcountry was also the sight of a fierce battle between the deceased count of Devon and the good count of Exeter himself. The victory Robert won guarenteed him great prestige and secured him a place within History.
Robert was adamant not to let slip of life until Cornwall had fallen under his dominon. The de Pentheviers had ruled it since usurping it from the old Duke Cadoc. Something which Robert never truly understood. Although not a friend of Cadoc he admired the Cornish spirit and wanted to bring them closer to his family so to stop them falling under the auspice of that clown Brient.
Robert tried to utilise this friendship and cordial relationship with the rightful cornishmen in power. Maryying his two daughters to Cornishmen. He hopes this move will have positive affects for both dealers.
In the wider scheme of things, since Roberts successful conquest of Devon he (with hindsight) foolishly placed his oldest son, Robert in charge as count. Unlike his father Robert holds much more faith in the English dynasty, being something of a loyalist, which upsets his father extremely - almost to the point of favouring his other son Tancred in succession. Furthermore Robert remains under the vassalege of King Robert of England, another element to widen the rift between father and son.
Later that month the Duke of Brittany found himself at war with the Duke of Aquitane. He issued a call to arms alerting all his vassels that now was his time of need. Robert was pondering over his oldest son when news reached him.
Robert though to himself, this could be it he pondered. 'With war in Brittanny I could reassert my independence. The count then chuckled to himself as he shoved another log atop his fire.
