I think there should be more events that take place in battle that might actually make it worth having your leader personally lead his armies, like the ability to gain traits like "Strong" or "Diligent", that sort of thing. Maybe even the option to rally your troops or make a headlong charge with a chance of breaking the enemy lines. Something, anything, to influence the outcome of battles thanks to the presence of your character leading his own armies in person. As it is, if you have "brave" you're likely to gain an insignificant amount of prestige, or get "craven" to replace "brave", or get, wounded, maimed, rendered incapable, or killed.

Also, in terms of simple flavor, I'd like to see some more assassination events beyond the ones we already have, just for fun. No extra mechanics, no extra options beyond die or don't die, but seeing the same handful of events happen again and again isn't as entertaining as it was the first time. I mean sure, introduce three or half a dozen or a dozen new ones and they'll eventually become well-known and common as well, but still... would be fun.

Try out the Prince and the Thane mod, might be updated for recent patches. It adds all this sort of stuff.

My computer is marginal at best, being five years old, and anything beyond a minimod slows it down to the point where it is totally unplayable. Until the recent patch improving certain performance issues, the game became unplayable at 1-2 centuries in. I'll be getting a Steam Machine at some point in November or December that will make these concerns obsolete, I hope. At the very least quadrupling my RAM (though given the option, multiplying it by 8 or even 16 would be preferable) and increasing my processor speed by at least 50%.

Until then, I'm pretty much stuck with the base game (well, with DLC included) plus one or two mini-mods to make it harder.

Fair enough. But new assassination plot possibilities wouldn't be TOO much work, would they? And they wouldn't slow things down much at all.

Oh, no, that's all well and fine. I think it's a wonderful idea, in fact. I'm rather sick of blowing up people's carriages and celebrating with... beer.

My favorite is the "everyone believes our lone bowman story" plot.

I'd like to see a hunting "accident" happen to adults as well as to children. It's not like people didn't die while hunting all the time. I mean, if Europa Universalis (3, don't know about 4) is to be believed, it's a miracle the human race survived at all.

I also wouldn't mind a simple "dark figure in the night slays the king in his bed". Other possibilities include "soap on the stairway", "attacked by a supposedly trained bear while at ye olde faire", or "tampering with the saddle so the king is trampled to death by his own horse".

Maybe even events related to the King's location. If he's leading an army, his bodyguards abandon him in the midst of battle, or if there's a grand tournament going on, there's a mishap where a pointed weapon is "accidentally" given to his opponent. That sort of thing. That'd probably be too complicated, but some additional events wouldn't be amiss.
