Tired of stealing tech you can't use?
I made this mod so this won't happen anymore.
This is an early version and has some problems but I hope these will be solved in version 2.0.

Basicly this mod simply deactivates all techs not on your doctrine tree.

Download here

Either read the readme or read this.

Readme:
Unzip files and copy them into the tech folder.
They will replace the original files so save them somewhere save.

IMPORTANT!
Do not click the Fleet-in-Being, Sealane Interdiction, Base Strike,
Superior Firepower, Grand Battle Plan, Spearhead or Human Wave tech.
This might result in a Crash to Desktop (CTD).
This makes this mod useless for humanplayed countries at the start of their techtree.
I have some ideas for a workaround but this will be for a later version.

As usual all damage caused by this mod is not my fault, use at own risk.
And don't forget to backup your files!

EDIT: will probably only work with new games

EDIT2: doesn't work
working version on it's way

You might as well cheat, with all the overpowering this will bring..

Can't see how this counts as cheating or overpowering.
The result will be the same for the human and the AI, no longer will spies steal techs that can't be researched.

If you think this will ruin your game, don't use it.

I support you in making this mod. IRL, a spy wouldn't steal a blueprint that didn't have a chance of being used at home country (especially a doctrine, which is hard to steal anyways if at all possible).
Actually doctrine stealing by spies should be removed imho.

Why? I can see someone teaching tactics to a fighter pilot captain named Hank Miller, not realizing that his real name is Heinrich Muller.

Because doctrines is far more than just teaching advanced tactics.
Even though the German early war tank doctrine was widely known by the Normandy landings and they were regarded as superior to the allies tank doctrines, the allies use of tanks was still very different than the German ones.
Doctrines is also about what to focus on, and how, like the cost reductions, they don't teach you how to do that in tactics.

Agreed... I think that doctrines should be offlimits to spy

bad news
seems that you can still steal blueprints from tech that is deactivated.
Just stole human wave doctrine from the USSR while playing Germany.
I'll have to change this mod.
I'll create events for the major countries that will give bleuprints for all land and naval doctrines thay don't use.

Not good idea, cause you can abandon you doctrine and go through a fast lane in another doctrine.

I know, that's why I have the following description in my events

Code:
name = "Barkdreg Intelligence Event"
desc = "Gives blueprints of all doctrine tech that doesn't belong to
your doctrine. Abbandoning and changing doctrines is cheating!"

Yes, it should be impossible to get 'doctrine blueprints'. Doctrine isn't a blueprint, its not a piece of equipment or method of production (though may encompass advances in these areas). It's a way of thinking and teaching, its a mindset. In fact, it may not be that secret... it could even be published in a book!

The way another Army operates (pre-war anyway) can be seen from their exercises and other intelligence sources. Getting your own Army to operate in the same way is quite a different matter!

What??? You mean like "Achtung Panzer", published in 1937??? ummmm, the authors hame has slipped my mind........ :D

If such a concept can be reproduced into a book, booklet, scientific paper, etc....then I see no problem with a doctrine being a "stolen" or "reproducible" and therefore introduced into a Command and Staff College environment of another nation -- the key is whether the recipients of such information have an "open mind" to these paradigm shifts in doctrinal teachings.

Remember MAJGEN Billy Mitchell of the USA??? -- courtmartialled for daring to suggest that airpower had a place in forthcoming wars. He published his theories in the open source environment......

His story is here:

Cheers

oooh, people are still interested.
haven't had the chance to actually make this mod (stupid exams).
My first way to stop the stealing of doctrineblueprints didn't work (you can steal blueprints of locked out tech).
The option I have under consideration now is an event that gives blueprints of all tech that you can't research.

Hopefully I'll be able to do this in a month or a month and a half.
