Banned from Steam?

Hello I logged into the Steam forums today and it says I was "banned for Piracy" which makes no sense. I bought the game legitimately, and never posted a link or anything about piracy. I did respond to a thread talking about piracy, but that was all. I was not sure where to post this, but could a moderator or something please look into this because it makes no sense at all? There are also no rules on Steam that say you cannot even talk about it lol. Also I never supported it, and just asked how a guy turned the thread into being about piracy and I was complaining. For some reason I was banned and I noticed he was not and he was the one saying he would pirate it...

I doubt anyone can help you here, that is a Steam-related problem, thus Steam is the place to look for help. Also, I am pretty sure ToS of Steam / forum conduct states somewhere that it is forbidden to promote (talk about?) piracy... not like I looked for it but I have seen it plenty of times to know that. So, even if the ban is not deserved, you need to contact Steam about that.

Well I was trying to figure out how to contact an admin on Steam, but when clicking the "developers" profile I see no way to message him(I found a post from a developer stating to contact him with any issues due to a moderator). TotalyMoo I think his name is. I don't think it is letting me contact him because of my ban lol.

But no I was totally not supporting it and obviously just should have not responded, but he was derailing the thread. It seems like the moderator probably accidentally banned me instead of him . Oh well I can just start posting here with game questions. Thanks for trying to help though .

Developers are not administrators. Use Steam Support to find out and contact them.

I looked at those links, but my account was not banned totally or anything. I was only banned from cities:skylines forums and nothing else(I can still play the game, and talk on other Steam Forums). Contacting Valve seems to be for account wide issues, but it wont hurt to try I guess. Thanks!

I believe that individual steam forums are often moderated by staff (in this case it would be of CO/Paradox) so it may be that this is the best place to ask. But still, I think you should ask in the support forum (here) rather than general.

Paradox can't help you, Steam is an entirely different company. The reason you got banned though is probably due to steam having a zero tolerance for piracy discussions, even posting in a piracy thread can lead to a forum ban.

Yes, the moderators on Steam forums are different from these forums in general. I believe Paradox staff handling the community relations are often handling the Steam forums moderation. In case of Cities:Skylines I suggest contacting @TotalyMoo if you have problems.

That's a bit dumb if the post was against piracy.

If the OP was banned from the Skylines forum on Steam only it implies a CSL-approved moderator did it. I also think he has every right to seek further clarification, explanation or review of the decision. Steam support is very bad in this way, they act like demigods. The fact that they have the power to block you entirely, thereby "destroying" your paid content and with such mediocre support or avenue for appeal is one of the main concerns I have with such services. I was in the camp of hoping that CSL had a non-Steam version but I think it's just too easy for developers to jump on the Steam bandwagon, especially for a small team like CO.

Personally I find Steam forums a bit crap so you're better off here anyway!
