At last! The Republic takes the offensive! Creating a pocket and taking Leningrad will make things a bit easier, at least where defending the homelands are concerned.

I guess you'll have to conquer Poland again too xP Poor Poles.

The war seems to be going back and forth with no sides getting any advantages, a bit like WW1 but less static I guess .

Actually, yes - they are helping to bulk out the line in a few areas, and are also helping out the Finns.
They are doing a remarkably good job for an a.i.

Without the military control this is proving a decidely tricky war, and all the more interesting for it.

Btw, I feel military control (especially as a minor) removes one of the challenges, i.e a lack of stuff to actually utilise. Means you no longer play a minor.. update tomorrow anyway.

How many divisions are going to be left in the south now that you've withdrawn?

And how many of those French divisions are actually in Europe, not Africa?

In the South? None - I am leaving it to the Italians and French to look after themselves. There is I guess around 70 french divisions in Europe, which includes Scandinavia.

So there you go, bucking tradition by not putting a thread in the OT like everybody else.

03:00 - 12:00 September 10th, 1945

Warsaw is attacked, and we hold on for a while with lot's of good combat multipliers - but eventually lose. But not by much.

03:00 September 11th, 1945

We continue the advance in the north. The early counter attacks by the Soviets seem to have stopped.

And Grodno! Again! It must be a bloody mess this place. Anyone care to work out how many times this place has been taken and retaken in the AAR?

True to form, the Soviets want it back. It does make sense, it does form (along with Wilno) a key part of the defensive line.

This time we want to play for keeps, and attack the flank of the attack. I have troops on the way to Grodno as well - if I can hold out for the next week or so, it should be secure.

The flank attack is successful, and remove two of the Soviet divisions attacking Grodno.

Up in the north we try an experimental look across the straits towards Leningrad, but their is no way this is going to happen yet. We abandon it after an hour. Something has to give at some point.

Grodno is held - for now.

More advances in the north.

This is an overview of the movement on the front. If I can get all of this, then it is a big step to getting the pocket very close to completion. My only problem is that I have no idea how many Soviet troops are up there. I would put my money on a lot.

so what are your strategic goals for the war with the soviets ? apart from taking leningrad. coz i either missed them or you haven't specified them.

A plan? The plan was not to be overrun straight away.. this has now shifted to attempting to capture the area around Leningrad, and ultimately Moscow.
Whilst not collpasing completely in the Baltic area.

Well, last night was fun. Oh yes.

September 14th, 1945 - September 16th, 1945

11:00 - 17:00, September 14th, 1945

We arrive in somewhere beginning with P. And are immediately attacked by the Communist hordes - and kicked out. Gah, looks like we may be halted in the north. There are just too many of them.

And an hour later they recapture it - that's just not fair is it.

Although things are a bit more promising next door. We arrive in Vegjfdhekjkohshoa:

We have a rush of blood to the head and decide that a strike towards Moscow is a good idea..

However the Russians don't like this idea and attack us. We gauge the attack, ignore it and press on...

Worryingly in the south, the Red Menance seems to be advancing against minimal allied opposition. We continue to monitor the situation.

Ignoring the flank attack pays off. For now.

Back in our favourite friend Grodno, The Russians round up some assorted peasantry, give them sticks and make them run at our guns. They start to do this with increasing regularity. Well, it's their manpower, I am not one to tell them not to waste it.

Now this is really starting to get worrying.

September 16th, 1945

It's only taken 6 years of constant warfare, but finally one of our commanders has learnt something - point the bit that goes 'bang' at the enemy.

And seriously, Swedish girls really know their way arounds beds don't they... sheesh.

I see that you are also in the process of recapturing Vilnius, which is a good thing to do Hopefully you can manage to stabilize the front in the centre, while the allies may just manage to hold it somewhere in the south. Good luck
