After firece lobbying and pressure from the Allies, Stalin relents and gives back the provinces 'occupied' by the Soviets. Maybe it was the realisation that he needed the Republic's forces to hold his right-wing, or the fear that they could join the Nazis and pose him considerable problems (however unlikely that was in practice - to Stalin, all options were possible). Either way, he wouldn't forget this and relations between the erstwhile allies were damaged. What this would bring for the future, no-one could say. (Incidentally, I waited until I thought it was realistic for me to have them back - when the front is far enough away and things are moving forward).

The main bulk of the army arrives in Konigsberg, running straight into the advancing Germans.
17:00 July 8th, 1943
After a bitter 33 hour battle, we have to concede ground. I hope this is not going to be a repeat of last years fiasco.
10:00 July 10th, 1943
The Germans recapture Konigsberg - or rather what is left of it. We immediately send troops to safeguard Alytus.

The Soviets, whether through being bested by superior German forces (or, as the Republic suspects, through colusion between the Nazis and the Soviets) have abandoned Suwalki. Regardless of why, the effect is that the entire left wing of the Republic is exposed - an open road through the country for the Germans to drive right up. DAMN YOU STALIN! Also, note how experienced my TACs are!

He probably allowed his fast units to quickly capture it so that the Soviets couldn't take it. He didn't need to hold it, just turn it green.
At least your country now got some meat on it's bones, it looked rather skinny without Lithuania.
The Soviets seem to take every good fortune you come across and turn it into something horrible...
Could you make an event to make the allies attack Copenhagen and open up the Baltic? It's kinda unfair that you fight all alone and your stinking allies sit in Oslo doing nothing.
Glad to see that you've got your territory back! And don't worry about the "exposed wing" - think of it as if it's a possibility to capture Suwałki AND Konigsberg, and maybe even push to Poland and liberate it on your own .
Make an event that will liberate Norway, or create Scandinavia... Why the heck would allies occupy Norway for the entire war?

The situation in Suwalki is confusing - the province changes hands several times, the Soviets intervene, we win and lose.

Whilst the Germans are frantically reinforcing Suwalki, we strike against the accursed Konigsberg again.

We arrive in Suwalki but are again hit by superior forces..
12:00
We retreat, ensuring that some retreat towards the threatened Grodno.

With the Germans focused in the centre, we break through in Konigsberg. Again. (Ok, maybe I'll allow myself a small Huzzah!).

We arrive in Konigsberg in force this time. Hopefully, we are here to stay.

The first survivers arrive in Grodno. As suspected, the Germans are trying to advance there.
We retreat the survivors again. Hopefully, the other retreating troops will also make it..

The retreating troops manage to make it out ahead of the advancing Germans. This is good news - I have avoided an encirclement, allowed the troops to retreat into threatened areas AND they have regained org whilst doing so.

That not so bad, with national provinces conquered back your MP gain will increase and you hopefully will not be forced to attack one-sided attack across river.
