Well for sure greece needs more provinces, though not superbuffing ottomans at the same time is difficult...

I would love to see something like tributary states for states other than Ming and Hordes, or some new type of subject that would be very similar to the tributaries. Good example is Ragusa and how they paid the tribute to the Ottoman Empire in exchange for protection. They were not exactly their subject nation as they could freely enter any foreign relations as long as it did not conflict Ottoman interests.

With the current "ImmPack > Expansion > ImmPack > Expansion" DLCs scheme it looks almost sure that after Iberia Immpack comes a full HRE + Italy Expansion.
If we consider the size in area, population, wealth, cultural diversity and states fragmentation covered in Dharma (India+Burma) I dont see why we need separated HRE and Italy DLCs (even more considering that a big chunk of Italy was part of the HRE).

After that, one free patch for Balkans could do the work to finally end with those ugly over sized Bulgarian provinces.

Then what I can see are a South East Asia Immpack, Americas (fix colonial + disease mechanics) Expansion and Africa (South Africa centered) free patch.

Should the Balkans get a expansion, immersion pack or be a patch?

I'm fine with other areas taking precedent, however as long as Silistra and Bessarbia are the most offensive provinces in the game I know it's time will come.
The minors alone wouldn't be much mechanics wise, The era of the game would permit more Ottoman flavor in my opinion; and if Hungary was included it definitely could be more then a patch. Love them or hate them Byzantium sells. Also Id hate to see the Caucasus forgotten, though they could fit into a steppe horde DLC, but if they were a patch we'd miss out on those sweet Georgia, and Trebizond units.

What are your thoughts? Expansion, immersion pack, or patch?

The Balkans are perhaps the lowest-priority area in the Old World to get any sort of DLC. CERTAINLY the lowest-priority place in Europe.

Every nation there basically exists to be annexed. Mostly by the Ottomans within 20 years of game start, but Hungary also gets PU'ed.

Hungary also got it's own non-DLC patch. Wallachia and Moldavia got updates in the Poland patch just now. Byzantium already has Purple Pheonix. The Balkans already have a frankly disproportionate amount of attention compared to vastly more important regions which sorely need it, like Germany and Italy.

It is not going to happen. Stop asking. A DLC what amounts to 'Serbia; Bosnia and Albania' will not sell. An 'Immersion Pack' for the same region would basically need to have events which say 'You are annexed by the Ottomans, Game Over' because anything else would be anti-Immersion.

A Balkans DLC wouldn't sell, especially compared to Germany/Italy/France/Almost any other region. A Balkans Immersion pack simply can't exist because the region gets annexed historically within a few years, so by definition an Immersion Pack for the Balkans would be literally unplayable and just buff the Ottomans.

I'd buy a balkan DLC instantly, but a patch is okay too. We need more provinces in Thrace especially, as the ethnic composition ended up being quite complicated IRL.
There's also issues with province shapes which I find simply jarring (Bessarabia, Edirne).

Out of curiosity, what sort of content are you looking for in your ideal Balkan Expansion / Immersion Pack / Update? Not that we have anything planned in this region, but I'd like to gather some feedback to give to the dev team! I might not answer to all of you, but rest assured, everything will be read and inked down :D
14. Provinces biensur - defense bonus on Danube provinces.

1. Events. Tons of events.

3. For example, I am not sure if the engine allows it, but I'd like to see events popup during sieges helping Balkan defenders against the Ottomans or other big powers, events halving the attackers troops or even more, forcing a white flag retreat. Events based on the siege of Kruje, Belgrad, Neamt, Skodra, etc.
"Your majesty, during the siege of X, a german prisoner had an excellent tactical idea. The Turkish cannons used to bombard our positions were decimated in a surprise attack". As a result, not sure if it's possible, the attacking troops are halved and forced to retreat with the white flag.
"Your highness, a surprise attack from the friendly troops of Venetia sent to our aid in a secret mission by bla bla managed to devastate the besieging ottoman camp from X, killing the general Y and routing the attacking forces". Result, general dies, army is routed.

4. Vampires in Transylvania! :D Joking aside, superstitious events that give balkan troops and non-Balkan attackers like the Otts negative or positive morale for x months, years. Mostly negative for non-Balkan troops, both positive and negative for Balkan troops. This is a must be!

6. Balkan policies. But for this you'd need to ditch the actual policy system, which, by the way, sucks, and instead of giving us 120 policies with many crap policies that don't account the play style, create a meaningful policy system with less policies in the beginning, but all worthy ones. Separate them by RP, playing tall, playing wide, playing religious, playing Babylon style, etc., and give regional policies too. Hard to do it tho, a lot of work.

11. This. 1.27 Poland/Lithuania/Romania; Feedback for provinces

8. Partial this: Suggestion for "Geopolitical" changes in the Balkans

9. Probably impossible, but I'd love to see a Balkan music pack.

32. If you do the Balkans, you'd most certainly have to touch a bit the Ottomans too. They are a big part of Balkan history, we like it or not. Events where the leader of a Balkan country can choose to send his son to the Ottoman court, and instead it gets a special relation with the Ottomans. Better than vassal, but worse than an independent kingdom. Refusing it will insta give the Ottomans some CB and a big relationship penalty.

32.a Temporary appearance of Ottoman Balkan vassals, not sure if possible based on the current engine. I.e., the Ottomans own all Wallachian cores. An event releases Wallachia as a special Ottoman vassal or a normal vassal until the current Wallachian ruler dies, or something like that, integrating them back upon death ( if things don't go south of course :D ).

33.b More Ottoman - Balkan special relations. Decisions that can be triggered by Balkan kingdoms for temporary advantages or disadvantages. Ask the help of the great vizir in exchange of vassalage until the current Balkan leader dies for example. The Balkan kingdom becomes a temporary vassal of the Ottomans, helping it against other invasions, but on ruler's death, the vassalage is broken and a diplo penalty is also incurred, because the great vizir wants to make the vassal a permanent vassal. And a CB of course. Bla bla.

411. Events that give Balkan defenders against the Ottomans manpower or cash sent by European Christians.

17. Austria / Balkans events. Friendly and not so friendly. In fact, there are too many things that could be added to such a DLC, and I am too lazy for this. :p

For a free steam key for EU 6 I will make an ordered detailed list with suggestions based on what I'd like to see in a future Balkan patch and what these two threads add to that.

EDIT1: Make possible a Balkan game where based on very good diplomatic decisions you can hold your horses for a long time, even expanding if you play your cards well with the surrounding big powers, mainly the Ottomans.

Give missions where if your Balkan ruler has 12 in diplomacy ( little exaggeration ), you can ask things from the HRE emperor, from the Papal State, to combat the Ottomans, or from the Ottomans, against the HRE or Poland or whatever. Or better, use your diplomacy as a factor in some kind of missions that repeat themselves in specific situations, and the chance of having your request granted is based on your diplo stats. 1 means that it's highly probable to get it, 6 means that it's 90% probably to get it. Again. :p You get my point.

(even more considering that a big chunk of Italy was part of the HRE).
Nah, Italy had been de facto out of the HRE for at least half a century, and probably even more (all the way back to the Interregnum of the 14th Century). The game is extremely generous in giving a chance to keep it in the Empire, when it probably shouldn't be in it to begin with (with the exclusion of Savoy, which did take part in the politics of the Empire).

More provinces, firstly. Secondly, Bogomilism as a faith that can syncretize with other Christian sects (used by Bosnia and the Duchy of Saint Sava, which syncretize with Catholicism and Orthodoxy respectively). On its own, Bogomilism should have a big diplomatic/relations malus but a good conversion bonus, because of the popular anti-feudal nature of the heresy. It's a new faith in Europe and that should be very interesting to play with. Perhaps the Danube should be navigable to a small extent? Full-size ocean-going ships can go as far as Braila, and it was a vital Wallachian port. The Rhine and Elbe are already navigable for a short distance in-game, so I don't see why the same can't be done for the Danube. Mamluk exclave in the important Anatolian port of Alanya. Genoese and Venetian colonial mechanics for sure. Adding a bunch of small coastal provinces to represent the colonization of Latin powers would be a big up, especially considering how lenient you have been with splitting provinces lately. Add small nations like Epirus (of course represented as under Corfu's PU), Lovech (last citadel to hold out in Bulgaria, see more info and sources in my thread), Saint Sava (pretty important Aragonese protectorate) to act as a speed bump for the Ottomans. More nations means more alliances, this would make this interesting as the player might actually be able to assemble a Balkan pact to threaten the Ottomans. Unique units for Hungary/Romania/Serbia is a MUST.

I think the Balkans and italy could both be updated at the same time as the dlc/immersion pack. Some missions / events for the balkans could be about trying to beat ottomans after their losses at varna, I personally don't think you'd be able to make enough content for the balkans to fill even an immersion pack alone let alone a dlc, so that's why I suggested updating the balkans at the same time as italy.

Imo, I think after Iberia HRE should get a facelift then italy+balkans.

Someone previously said about another DLC for america, I strongly disagree with this - we have el dorado already. Sure, update the provinces, but I don't want to get another dlc just for the new world.

Many people asking for HRE dlc talk about more National Ideas, Mission Trees and some interesting HRE mechanics. All those things are about playing with a HRE member itself (so technically things that are more for ImmPack since they gonna have effect just for HRE).

In the other hand the problem with America and Colonization is that is broke:
- Auto westernized Totemism and Animism tribes
- Limbo line migratory nations
- Colonies growing too fast where they dont, and too slow where they must
- AI´s CN being eaten by some minor tribe
- DISEASE that was a key factor in America and Africa relation with Europe is totally ignored
- We cant even personalize our CN like we already can with Client States and Custom Nations (Im sure that just giving players the chance to chose the flag, name, colonizer culture and culture name, provinces assigned, and even the kind of trade goods in your colonies can be a selling point for this DLC)

Even more if you want to do WC with any nation in game you must colonize at some point, so this a theme that afect any region on game, while not everybody need to be HRE member.

Now if Americas get something from the 1° and 5° DLCs, then 3° have Venice theme, COMMON SENSE the 6° is HRE related and RIGHTS OF MAN the 9° is Germany related also. So Americas have way more time forgotten that Germany (and related).

Note that I think that the more probable next DLC is a full HRE + Italy Expansion DLC (even if I actually dont want it) because it looks like the better idea for sales right now (also Italy really need more detail and Bohemia and Austria also need some buff). But I think that said "they already had a DLC before" is a bad reason to deny a new one if it is really needed. And the fact is that as much HRE need more content also Americas need it.

Just out of curiosity  Balkan patch is on agenda then, nice!

I would want an Ottomans centered immersion pack with lots of Balkan flavor. Ottomans were a Balkan nation in this time frame after all.

But if not, a free update for the rest of Balkans. Those provinces make my eyes bleed. Arguably the most underdeveloped region in this game. Greece, Bulgaria, Thrace.. they are in an awful shape.

Bogomilism - this. As far as i know Bosnia interior was isolated a bit and Pope was unsuccesfull a few times to convert those people there to Catholicism. He probably succeded partly eventually. Then Ottomans came and converted lots of population to Sunni.

Popes meddling in this area and later Ottomans conversions could be represented in area by events.

Not deserve more than a patch. Poland deserved a country pack more than the Balkans, for example.

Iberian pack > Southeast Asian patch > HRE+Italy dlc > Balkans patch > presumable French pack
