Dave,

We will have random admirals, but otherwise it's up to the group. I'm against them as a rule, even for poor Austria, as I believe the game is carefully balanced between all these various factors.

Nonetheless, and namely because it's a 1337 start, we'll put it to a vote. I'll break any ties:

A. Random leaders

or

B. No Random leaders

I would actually narrow it down to pre- 1492 as those years are not very well fleshed out. England and France get a host of good leaders in the 1400's which leaves their neighbours completely at their mercy.

The rest of the game is finely balanced.

I suppose I'm being a little self-centred but I would rather be involved in the action rather than hoping that France or England don't come down and squash Castile if I act up :p

Anyone mind if Muscowy gets a a random conquistador. Say, circa, 1340?

In all seriousness though, countries like Austria, Brandenburg and Muscowy who get the majority of their CBs like post 1500, are gonna have a loooooong wait.

It's cool though. I'm looking forward to this game immensly.

Btw, will the land/naval slider be allowed to be moved with historical events?

My vote:

Random Leaders before 1492
No Random Leaders after 1492

Ok HG but for the record you quit that game in which I was England, I went to the end...

I will play Poland :)

Now as I said earlier I cant make the first session if we start this week, I have an end of year party at my work. Also last few days i've been having problems with my connection, its dropping a lot. I have rung the ISP and they are looking into it.

The problem with the 1337 scenario is that Hive didn't really put much time in it. He focused on the HYW. This means that England and France have a nice leaderfile, yet the other countries lack a lot of leaders that one would expect to be included.

Believe me, Muscowy does not need those cores from the start ;) Its a lot of fun to play anyway. By the way, Muscowy does get some nice leaders (high shock value) from 1419 onward (paradox leaders since the GC starts then).

Frankly, the English crown was in possession of most of Picardie in 1337, as well as Gascogne, but I won't bother about that; details details details.

I agree with the cores for england. At least till they lose the HYW
(or win, but let´s try not to consider that ugly possibility... ;) )

No problem with it also :D
But Would France mantain his historical leaders also??

France has no interest in the lands of Castille, as it turns, France will have to much problem fighting the english invaders and fighting for survival against the much bigger english army.

To the English King and rebelious vassal.

It´s been know to the French King that the english army is presently sieging a city belonging to our vassal, the Duke of Normandy. We demand that the english army retreat to the other side of the Channel and suspend any hostilities againt France and his Vassals by offering imediate peace.

DSY,

I made this same argument in the AOI game.

Turned out, England didn't need the cores to rather rapidly annex all of France, well beyond its conventional borders in fact, and the Netherlands.

Let´s just hope this dont happen...

Remember Freengland in Chill 3, my fellow monarchs!!!!

You're forgetting that the main reason for random leaders is because is because aside from a few famous leaders, most of the nations who had leaders that did counter guys like Tamerlane...are non-existant. Because Hive wasn't able to research for every major country, pretty much beyond France, England and Tamerlane.

And that once we're in Paradox territory, that is no longer the case.

Furthermore, if the other two games where random leaders were used is any indication, none of them will come even close to 5553.

For the record,

he is 5/5/4/1. Still unmatched, but also quite low for a skilled man like Timur Lenk. I believe it will take a long time before armies can assault? So, his sieges won't go a lot faster than the average army...

Maybe his fire value should be converted to siege.

I always thought it was a semi-amusing joke by Paradox to give all those HYW English leaders like 7 fire ratings. When it's good for nothing while they're alive.

if we use radom leaders i think we should use them the entire game not just before 1419

i don't accept getting counters or possible even better leaders then tamerlane(wich would be redicilous) if those who get a good leader before 1419 don't have the same change to get a counter vs lets say suleyman , suverov ect

5-6stats are way to common to when generating leaders unles hg takes a low average

and timur should be atleast 5shock/3siege if he isn't then napoleon and all other great leaders in history should be downgraded to

I would like a cap of 4441 on random leaders, if not then I will vote against. Random leaders should really only be to give competent players a chance to defend themselves against the uber-leaders. They shouldn't really match them. Also, I agree completely with Drake, either they are there the whole time or not at all.

PS. Has anyone decided to take the Ottomans?

They shouldn't really match them. Also, I agree completely with Drake, either they are there the whole time or not at all.

PS. Has anyone decided to take the Ottomans?

Good position... Hum...
I would go for random leaders with this cap until 1453 (the year that starts the GC - after all the question is that Hive didnt looked for leaders, but Paradox has, so if we are to use random leaders lets end them as the GC starts).
No random leaders after.
Not that these benefits me... but... hehe... if things go badly France wont be there anyways after 1453... :( Only a uber England...
