Venice was subbed for part of the session, then ghosted.

The Muscowite AI went nuts and DOWed Venice three or four times. The sub handled it all but the last, and the effects of that war will be edited out. Also, check your fleet numbers and let me know how much needs to be restored and you'll get a free DP click (I think you were ghosted 15 years).

As far as the session, the Fifth Rhenish War was fought. Despite the brave leadership of Richemont and Dunois, and CF's superb use of LT 7 and cannon versus my LT 5, it was an eventual French defeat. The Second Peace of Strassbourg restored Luxembourg to the Empire, arms control and a ten year truce, which was later extended to twenty.

Nobody else did much apart from hypertech. John, in particular, used his excellent relations with the Emperor to developed manufactories at the expense of learning about gun powder.

Luxembourg was worth such a fun war, & in eco techs I should reach IT 3 & TT 2 at about the same time, 5 years. So the war really didn't set me back to far. After that it is up to the Emperor to make the first move next time, as France lacks the power or will to be the arbiter of war for round 6. So my guess would be 1499 or sometime not long there after

Indeed. France is quite a bit more progressive than Austria. I'm the one playing catch up, mainly, owing to your unholy domestic policies.

Saturday I come back from my trip and will look the save.

I lost Delta province and have 1 loan. Nothing bad.
I would like to have mercantilism moved 1 click to free trade - from 7 to 6, so I get some more merchants and colonialists. Dont know if its the best slider move, but eventually I want to have more merchants at COTs (or should I get 1 more in inovative - from 5 to 6... hum... but that would coust me more colonialists...).
I lost 1 warship and 31 galleys, if I interpreted the stats correctly. But in other point the stats only say 28 ships. Dont know...
Iam good with what you decide.

By the stats it seems my red sea fleet didnt grow up...

Ah,... the map remembers me of Europe pre-Word War I... With a big austrian empire, a good (smaller but advanced) Germany. A big Russia. Interesting. No small nations almost.

HG, not a chance, France is yet again in a position where peace & preparation is best. As long as you don't go wild, I am staying passive ::cough:: Venice ::cough::

DSY, Spain has given me no reason to view them as an enemy yet. They hold no land I aspire to, & on a number of occasions have stayed out of wars to my advantage. I am sure lots of that has had to do with my great leaders, but I still see little reason to strive to make them my enemy.

Camisa, the only slider which can help with BB is moving towards aristocracy, since higher Diplomatic skills equal quicker drops in BB.

That is true, I have been on fairly good terms with Dave the entire game, but it would be unnatural for Spain & France to be allies or anything. Besides since he seems to have given up his claims in Italy it would make a pretty boring game if he didn't attack France at some point, so I never really had any expectations of him being passive, & honestly I have been surprised (& appreciative) he didn't jump in on a couple of my wars to this point.

Sorry to break into the debate of whether or not I'm going to use the foremost Captain of the Age ....... The Handsome and dashing El Gran Capitan!


We should work out the problem with Sweden. We'll be needing a replacement unless someone has heard from Dago.

It's also too bad our former Sultan botched the OE. With hindsight I should have played it for a couple sessions since I basically sat waiting for the BB to go down
