Exactly what are "rounds" of BB wars?

I heard about them. I thought I was prepared. I had over a million men when I entered BB wars as France and round 1 never ended...months turned into many years and despite beating the snot out of my enemies, war exhaustion set in and mass rebellion swept away la grande nation.

Is the only to end "round" one to make all your peace resolutions more or less at the same time? This enableing a 5 year breather for each respective country? A better question may be, how does one do this with limited diplomats?

Do these BB wars go on ad infinitum? Will the Ottoman Turks keep DOWing me every 5 years regardless of the beating they take until they are annexed?

I noticed after a while that I wound up fighting my former vassals I had decent relations with. Does having good relations (i.e. >100) or previous commitments (vassalage, alliance) make any difference or does everyone simply DOW you? The messages come in so fast I didn't have time, nor the want to, read them all.

A 'round' is the time you are at constant war, ended by at least 1 days peace, which resets war exhaustion to zero.

This answers the other question, the only way to get peace (stop war exhaustion) is making peace with everyone within five years of making the first peace.

With limited diplomats? Achieve high warscores and let them make the offers. Against alliances you have a hard time to get at, bribe their leader with much gold (1300 if needs be) and the entire alliance will be out for five years. Else only offer peaces when you are about to annex.

Unless you manage to get below 34 BB, or when you have annexed all with capitals on your continent, and allied with or annexed all you have land borders with, you will get DoWed every 5 years until end of game.

Only allies will avoid DoWing you, they will immediately betray you if you call them in, but they can join your wars when you invite them into your alliance. All others (vassal +200 relations included) will DoW you come end of truce.

Some really poor vassals might not, according to Peter Ebbesen (if I understood him correctly) but I have never seen that.

Enjoy your road to world conquest :D

Having them both as vassal and in your alliance is the best thing since they act as a buffer against others DOW and having access to you. Better make sure you have mil. Access as well since you will not be inviting them to join your wars.

I see...

That's a good idea Castellon. I never really thought about diplomatic efforts like that bc/ I figured smash my opponents into submission :D Never fought BB wars before - I guess hubris is natural until one truely experiences them.

Thanxs for the clear explantion Nikolai II. The road to WC will be a happier one now that I know what I'm up against.

Though it would be nice is 1 province nations would offer themelves for annexation and join my glorious realm rather than offering me $273 and making me waste a diplomat.

If they offer you money you are lucky, it can take decades until they feel they have enough money to offer, and until that time they won't even offer a peace, truly forcing you to use a diplomat.

1)not all allies will break your alliance if you invite them to war, but most will do. instant-inviting costs one dip - not recommended

2)i have seen those "poor vassals" not declaring war, but they were at no point in the game my vassals. OTOH even the poorest of mine not in my alliance backstabed me once i hit the BB-wall.

1) OK, I don't call on allies since I thought they always scr*wed you.

Inviting I use when my longtime ally changes religion and I don't want to fight him, but vassalize him come EoT, or when I have f-vassed someone and want him in sooner.

2) Ok, good to know. Probably because your vassals always add a modicum of your power to what they percieve that they have, since vassals must mean friends, right?;)

In my first BB round, I invited my vassals/allies to a couple of wars against the other nearby European nations to help keep them off my back. From a couple of times when I accidentally went over the limit (in a previous game), I can tell that if you keep asking your allies, they will soon decide they can't cope, drop out and then DoW you. Of course if you ask your allies when a 1-province Dakota or similar declare war then you aren't ready for BB wars anyway.

Non-allied vassals will immediately beak vassalisation and DoW. Siebenburgen vs most of Europe? Too tough to call, you reckon?

Oh and Zeppelin, I strongly recommend setting most of your messages to display in a game box then pause, using the pause key to make sure the game doesn't start again as soon as you remove the first one.
