In the live stream alone we've seen 4 separate people who I believe have introduced themselves as actively working on hoi4

We're up to four, I feel more optimistic now. I'm mainly talking about the people who are working on the game mechanics,which seem to have the trouble.I'm almost confident that graphics are not delaying the game.

Somebody said that paradox has about 80 employees.Well how many of these are supporting personnel (not game developers)?And how many are working on other projects? Is HOI IV left with 10 game developers? And how many of these are working on the game mechanics?

People complain when games are rushed into commercial release and they complain when developers take their time to finish the game BEFORE release. Some people are simply extremly impatient and dont seem to know how game development work. Let's go back in time for a bit and remember how the HoI III launch went. They rushed the game into commercial release aswell and look how that went. The difference between then and now is, that they couldn't affort to move back the deadline back then.

Paradox and for most part Star Citizen share the common problem of people complaining why those games "take so long" and simply dont realize how early in their development they were announced. Then they claim it would take "ages" for them to release it, while other companies wouldnt even announce their games before they are very late in alpha, if not internal beta status. Those companies wouldnt simply swap major features out mid production aswell, since the publisher wouldnt allow that and because they have an very strict deadline to work with. Paradox on the other hand is different in that regard and seem to be ok with games getting delayed nowdays.

I guess in the future we wont get any release estimates before they are 100% sure anymore, simply because of the hostility of the community if that estimate needs to be moved by an year or even more.

This is a healthy mindset to have.

Yes paradox is amazing, yes they have great interaction with their community (hoi4 communication isn't that good but generally the communication is better than other companies) yes the games they make are great and they improve upon them after release.

But at a certain point you have to take a step back and look at it objectively. We are looking at some major issues for core aspects of the game that obviously aren't working. We are now in the second estimated release date and we still don't even know when the games going enter beta let alone release.

Yes paradox is arguably the best gaming company out there.

But this is the thing. You have the right to critisize PDS's information policy, and I also have the right to criticise your posts.

I just mentioned it because I don't want you to think that we are trying to suppress you. This is just the way forums work.

I have enough of the good will to ignore this going up to summer, but problem could be solved quite easily in fact. Just give devs month or two to work on the project and then allow game to be purchased and give open beta for all whom bought the game. This way we will be able to play the product and developers will be able to tinker with the product far longer. It might be undesirable from some standpoints, but I fail to see how major harm could be done. Main platform, steam, has a good rating system. Players actually change their votes over time and they are very forgiving for beta products. Reviewers won't review game until it's out. Maybe it's hype which is the problem, but screw ups like that must have its price. Either it's good will with community, or undesirable semi-releases of the game.

This is ridiculous, I cannot believe it is going to be delayed yet again. We already are way more than a year off the original release date yet they still can't sort their stuff out. I have been patient and agreed with their goodwill in releasing a stable product but delaying it yet again really lets my faith in the development team's skills down.
What could possibly have happened?
If it's the oil issue then surely it's too late to change now as they would have to start from scratch again as they did last year with the national foci?

Thanks for the information! I've been prepared for a 2016 Q2 release for a long time. I remember Johan wrote that there is three to six months to release after entering beta stage.

Calling someone "hostile" is far more than critizism and pointing fingers as well. I leave everyone his opinion and totally respect other opinions. I don't want to play missionary and tell everyone, what to think. But i call things out, which i don't like and call things out, which i like (which i did more often, watch my profile).

And if there is another example of a thing, which i don't like, i feel free to say that, which gives the devs a feedback as well. Maybe they change their information policy, maybe not. It is their choice and i am not that arrogant to believe, that they owe me something and have to do as i say, just because i am ONE future customer of HOI4. But i cannot sit here singing "kumbayah" and "yay, another delay!", if i see things i don't like.

To make it clear. I think pdx is one of the best companies, that exist. Podcat, Johan and Fredrik Wester are very sympathic to me and i like them a lot. I just bought vicky 2 on steam sale and just love this piece of genious pdx work (still, learning is hard ).

But still, i cannot ignore the fact, that HOI4 seems to have issues, even after that very long time of development. And i don't like their information policy...

Feel free to "respectfully disagree" on that, but this is what i think...
