I'm curious why the knee jerk reaction to bad luck - like a string of bad events or bad dice rolls - is always to blame the developers and/or demand/request that the said events/rolls be edited/deleted

To be it seems obvious that logic would dictate you had bad luck, but, as someone with aspergers/autism I may not be understanding how others think.

Well we, the silent majority, who simply buy PDS games and love them use the social convention of laughing at them in our minds and then moving on with our day. You should try this concept, you won't be sorry you did! :)

I think it's when you get a string of bad luck that sends an otherwise good game into a downward spiral. Wouldn't be a big deal if this was a quick game, but when you invest 20+ hours of your life building up a nation only to see your stability drop from +3 to -3 in a few years for no reason, hordes of rebels popping up everywhere just cause, etc. etc. all happening not as a result of your choices but just because the RNG decided you needed a bad day... It's just human psychology, getting slapped in the face by the RNG doesn't feel good. It's not a challenge. It's not interesting. It just sucks. When it feels like it balances out or there's something you can do, that's alright, but sometimes the game just shoves it's foot up your butt. The point of games is agency, and to take that away through occurrences that are solely negative and that you have little or no control over is... not good for your sense of agency in the game.

Seems to me that bad things often is a result of your decissions, it's just not immediatly obvious.

But yeah, the "We need a shakeup" and "Comet sighted"-events isn't that fun. But hey, you can acctually plan for it. If you run a tight game, and never have MonPoints to spend on stab-recovery, then your strategy doesn't really co-ops with the reallity of the game, does it? If you have no safty-margins, expect to crash hard when you crash. True in life, true in EU4.
