To anticipate the next question: It displays as a fraction. The first number is your actual BB score; the second (usually 35-50) is your 'threshold' number, beyond which the effects of high BB get very bad. I recommend keeping to less than half that number if possible.
Generally, you gain BB only for declaring war or gaining territory (how much is determined by the details), and it will slowly reduce over time automatically (the speed varies) and may also reduce if you lose territory.

At Hard difficulty setting : monarch's DIP-skill divided by 30

Since we were dealing with a relatively new player, I figured he might want the simple, non-technical and non-longwinded explanation. So that's what I provided. I figured that if he was seriously interested enough to need the BB FAQ, he'd go looking (or ask) for it.
It's just too bad that some people on these boards feel the need to throw out every detail at the slightest hint. I suspect to most new players, that sort of thing is intimidating.

Did I mention that the limit on BBs increases over time depending on the year and according to a complicated formula found in the FAQ?
Also never lose a province to a pagan or release a pagan vassal or your BBs will not go down for that.

Since this is becoming a spam fest quickly, I will close this thread.
If I or another EU2 Mod thought any of the posts were too far out of line an official warning would have been issued, since none of the posts in this thread recieved such a warning and since only the Mods opinions count when it comes to stuff like that, no one need be upset or insulted. Members were just joking around at least that is how I percieved it. Anyone wishing to discuss this further is free to PM me.
