So I'm playing as New England. Through immigration, industrialization, colonizing Africa, and socialism, I've managed to join the great power club.
One problem. A few months later, the United States of Central America (which has somehow built an enormous army) unfailingly declares war on me, and the United States, which is allied with both the USCA and me and has the USCA in its sphere, unfailingly joins with the aggressor. And then I reload, because it's better than losing my only ally and Panama.
Which leads me to my question, if anyone's figured it out:
What criteria does the AI use when picking sides? Would it still backstab me if we had +200 relations, because it prefers sphere members to GPs or something? Is it because USCA has a higher mil score? I'm curious, though in this game I'll probably just satellite Panama - don't have much choice.
