After a good three years of tireless work and a number of setbacks, @077, @der Kriegsherr, and the rest of the team proudly present, based on the alternate history stories by Kim Newman and Eugene Byrne:

load_1024.png

We all know that the October Revolution of 1917 is one of, if not the defining moment of the 20th century for good or for ill. No one can or will deny that for a second.

BUT WHAT IF

- Said October Revolution had not occurred at all? Or at least, not in the way we know it?
- Instead of falling into anarchy and civil war, Russia was one of the prospering victors of the Great War, profiting handsomely from the destruction of the Central Powers alongside her British ally?
- The revolution did not occur anywhere in the Old World at all, but that burgeoning bastion of liberal capitalism across the Atlantic?

The world of Back in the USSA by Kim Newman and Eugene Byrne proposes just such a reality, where the old United States of America collapses into a civil war due to deep-seated societal tensions and an early entry and disastrous performance in the Great War, ultimately being reborn as the United Socialist States of America, the Old World empires of Britain and Russia taking up the mantle of guarding the world from the revolutionary fervor of founding father Eugene Debs and his protege-slash-successor Alphonse "Al" Capone, as well as the Tripartite Pact lead by National Socialist Germany, who seeks revenge against them both...

Features:
- A fully-overhauled 1936-1970 scenario with multiple branching paths- Unite the proletarians of the world as the USSA? Defend the liberal order as the Entente powers of the British and Russian Empires? Burn it all down and create a Thousand Year Reich? Every game is different!

- Full use of the E3 Map mod with over 8,000 provinces

- Overhauled minister lists and pics

- Complete Integration with the Cold War Tech Tree extension

- A custom soundtrack integrating both vanilla HOI2/DH songs AND period pieces

Administrative stuff

Troubleshooting

- Issue with land unit movement (generally with HQ-attached units) for USSA
- Undefined "unknown minister loyalty" error message
- AI behavior is somewhat off (something I was kind of aware of)
- Colors on some custom counters are distorted somehow.

Plans for future versions:

- Extend the timeline/events/ministers for the entirety (i.e. 1936-1991) of the WWII/Cold War period

- Flesh out the post-1970 cabinets for all countries

huh, never expected a release of the mod for 1.05, this is interesting.

It just crashes

Hi,

Installed it. Can't pass the loading screen, I get a message:
--- Pallete gfx\palette\ACH47.bmp not found --- Do you still want to continue?
And than it crashes.

Does the savebug file say anything?

It seems like your missing a counter or something of the sort.

Oh and congratulations on mod realese. It is always good to have more mods.

I download .7z file because my Avast said the download link of .zip file affected a virus (maybe it's a false positive).
After launch the mod, a critical error message "Palette 'gfx\palette\ACH47.bmp' not found!" appeared and then the mod was crashed.
I unchecked the unit sprites check box at the launcher and then the mod correctly run.

E3? Oh boy, this is gonna be a utter lagfest for the unlucky ones without a beastly computer... But oh well, I guess you just grin and bear it? Still wondering whether will there be a non-E3 version, optimized for those who do not have powerful CPUs or GPUs. Gonna download it now, see whether I got any luck. *Shrugs*

@Lev Trotsky

Yeah, it will be kinda. But it does in fact, run (without the sprites that is).

@delanonne

Yeah, I thought that one had something to do with the Cold War Tech Tree mod and brigade attachments, but I was never exactly sure.

Ideally, I want to get someone who worked on the aforementioned mod and get their thoughts on a fix. Because in all my test runs, I only had a problem with that for the USSA; taking military control of Republican Spain (and their units) worked like a dream.

@RandomDrongo

???
I knew about the China thing(assumed it was an AI/distribution of forces problem), but in all my test runs, I never saw that other stuff.
And these aren't typos, I'm just going off of the information the boss gave me.

@Tera Brandford
Thanks, I really appreciate the words of encouragement.

Well, guys, you have a looooooong way to go. For starters, try to correct typos in country names (Maxist China? Mad Max is doing great here). Then, maybe, you'd like to correct some AI (agressive and ever-winning China, I could buy, but passivenes of BOTH Germany and France, with Hitler DOWing Capone out from the blue in 1937 EVERY TIME...). And, well, yeah, you'd have to rewrite USSR Winter War events to USSA, not just replacing country tags.

Well, these are. Because you have "Marxist-Orthodox China" and "Maxist-Sunist China". Kinda gives you an idea.

Also, the USSA-Mexico peace event is a mess - due to, I think, misplacing of province tags the post-war territory is a mess with isolated provinces here and there.

Hey DK I guess it was not clear. I cannot move any units period. Is there a way that works? Please let me know or the mod is unplayable period.

After playing the mod some more:

Besides those few bugs stated above it is enjoyable to play. There are few mods on the E3 map so it is a nice change of pace. The only problem is that the game is a little sparse on events. That's ok though. It can be fixed with time.

Oh and to all those people complaining that the map runs more slowly, it truly doesn't. Both my current desktop and my old laptop form 2012 can run the E3 map. There is also a 4GB patch to help preference. The only time it ever broke was in the Putin mod where ISIS got like 2000 divisions. I'm sure that won't happen here :)

Very interesting mod! I've tried playing as the Russian Empire and have not had any crashes similar to those posted above. You can get around the HQ unit land movement problem by using the 'Create new unit' button to reform the units. Everything moves normally then. One inconvenient fault with the tech tree is that attack and naval scout helicopter brigades are activated when CAG 17 is researched, so you can't build CAG attachments for aircraft carriers. They are just not available at start except for carriers already in service.

Very interesting mod

I suppose this is temporary but the head of state of finland and poland should be the tsar and I think the borders of this polish kingdom should follow the borders of vanilla DH following a russian empire victory during ww1
