Hooray! cheer the soldiers as they push across the USA continent to finally bring socialism to the furthest corner of America.

Capitalism has shown its inherent inferiority to Scientific Communism(TM)!

aye, it does rather seem that way - brilliant picture, though the scope for self-inflicted casualties does seem to be substantial ;)

I need to have a think about where to take the AAR, I never intended to carry on post-USA, as it would just be a slow process of tracking down the bits of the allies in central and south america, Australia and South Africa - none a real challenge and all rather tedious.

... my inner medievalist needs feeding :)

Great victories Comrade General!

Lets see, you did Turkey before, now you've won as the Soviets. '44 Germany and Japan have good AARs out there. May be some HTTT AAR instead? :)

Well I've had a bit of a think about what to do, its obvious I've now won in any sense but there could still be a bit of sport to be had over on the west coast.

So I'll run it to the end of May - probably a couple of updates and then rest on my (proletarian) laurels. Even if I only managed it due to flaws in the naval combat system - BBs shouldn't be CV killers which they are at the moment, I'm still quite proud of taking a June 41 start and ending up with control over N America ;)

I need to have a think about the HTTT thing I started - can't get the tone right so its a bit of struggle, on the other hand I picked up CK on the pre-xmas sale on GamersGate and the potential is fantastic, problem is the other AARs in that area are just so damned good.

STAVKA 20 May 1946

These 4 weeks saw the war in North America shift fundamentally in favour of the USSR and its allies. The US proved unable to mount any significant resistance to Zhukov's formations driving out from the North East - there were occasional meeting engagements and sharp battles for particular cities, but each time the US defenders were outmanouvered and overwhelmed.

In the west, even on the long fiercely contested northern edge of the Soviet holdings, the Red Army was able to make gains and resist the inevitable US counterblow. Thus Soviet riflemen pushed beyond the perenial battlefields around Paso Robles and slowly made their way up the coast towards San Francisco. To speed the US collapse on this coast, Soviet troops attacked San Francisco directly and took the city on the 14th, quickly breaking out into the hinterland and moving south to join with the main Soviet forces. Further north a fresh cavalry corps that had been held in reserve was landed between San Francisco and the Vancouver pocket. These troops were expected to live off the land and to drive into the US rear - disrupting their supply networks and giving the US command a new threat to respond to.

Canada fell on the 17th:

and was immediately allowed to join the world wide Socialist federation as an independent state. The remaining Canadian troops - mainly clustered around Vancouver - were now allies not opponents of the USSR.

Equally Mexico was approaching surrender. In an attempt to stem the drive from the north, the Mexican commanders weakened the blockade at Acapulco and immediately those divisions were able to break out and threaten Mexico City from the south. Soviet armour and mountain divisions would be in position to attack from the north by the 25th and Mexico was expected to surrender soon after its capital was taken.

For the US itself, most of its industry was now in Soviet hands or badly bombed, and its last remaining organised divisions in the south were slowly being broken up as Soviet troops took advantage of gaps. They were receiving no reinforcements, making it hard for the US to mount, never mind sustain, any significant counteroffensives:

Overall, it was expected by early June that Zhukov's and Koniev's formations would effect a link up around Oklahoma:

an end?

I think this is a good point to call a halt to this AAR - it really is all over except for a lot of movement. Most of my armies are now under AI control and the only planning is every now and then checking axes of advance and deleting/adding objectives.

My cavalry raid seems to have utterly confused the US AI and its lost its last sense of discipline, so even in the relatively well defended areas, I'm now slipping into suddenly emptied provinces etc.

Can I thank everyone who was commented, I've really enjoyed and appreciated all the feedback and very often have taken the advice offered. This AAR has been odd, for me the best bits were at the start (the German offensive) and then the period from Sept 45-April 46 in N America when so often it all appeared to be in the balance. There were a couple of times when I thought the US would overrun my Los Angeles landings and either a fresh formation would be delivered or my shift to logistical bombing just saved me (although it then meant my expansion was badly hindered due to the infrastructure - so its a brilliant but rather double edged sword).

It certainly, as mentioned more than a few times, gave me a fine respect for what Paradox have crafted with the combat AI, and I suspect will just get better with more tweaks etc. I really felt it had a clear idea what it wanted to do and it certainly exploited any mistakes or areas of weakness.

Now what/where/when next?;) - a socialist coven amongst the wee frees?

Thank you for a great AAR, I've really enjoyed reading it.

*salutes loki* A job well done comrade! It was about time those capitalist pigs paid for their crimes :)

This was a fun AAR. I actually didn't get the title until only a couple of days ago. Anyway thanks for taking your time out to provide me and many others with good entertainment. I look forward to seeing another Loki100 AAR.

Congratulations - looks like it was a very good game. It was certainly a very good read.

I'll look forward to your next endeavour in AARland :)

Great AAR, I enjoyed reading it!
The invasion of US was truly epic.

Excellent job, I may have to try something like this myself!

Many thanks for all the comments, I was afraid that once I'd defeated Germany (May 42 should be when a Soviet player realises they are still a major threat, not re-enacts the raising of the red star over the Reichstag), this would fizzle out. But dealing first with Japan and then China were new challenges (especially the former taught me a lot about both the value and limits of air-power), and then the remarkably interesting sting in the tail of the first 8 months of the war in N America seems to have kept this bubbling along nicely.

Anyway, I have an idea, a time zone, and am playing around with a few options as to exactly what/where. I feel the need for a break from the grimness of WW2 so the grimness of early medieval {} will be a welcome break.;)

Loki, thank you! This is how the Rodina does war!

Btw, allow me to point you to the Rurikovich dynasty. With the Mongols coming from the east, steppe nomads int the south and the multitude of greedy Papists in the West, there is much challenge to be had! And this is even before you see the sheer amount of infighting among the many princes (князья) of Rus'.

This has been quite the read, from the early drama of the initial German gains all the way to the idyllic (or should that be 'boring-as-hell'?) stroll through the Great Plains as you seek that last VP.

It's been a lot of fun to follow along. I've seen your command of HOI3 and now I look forward to the change of pace and gameplay mechanics of CK. Kindly remind me to pop my head in the CK forum if I miss the beginning. :)

again many thanks for the kind words .... well I've finally taken the plunge some nine centuries back ... but at least its still a red dynasty (and, as ever, more than happy to have taken some practical advice along the way). So for a wee change of pace, check out: Tales of our Faarthers, at: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=461594

Loki,

Just FYI I started reading this long, long ago, but never finished. I've just completed skimming through the rest, and it looks like a rollicking great time! :D

I'm nominating this for the Iron Heart award. It's probably already nominated, but I'll add to the accolades.
