I do not have words to describe my disappointment. There are so much work in europe (Pagans, Republics, Pope, Bishoprics, cadet branches, blood rivalry and long term dynasty friendships...) and they are spending time and developer time on THIS?

God, I hope this DLC will be an economical disaster...

Aztecs? Really? I want to play as Republics and Pagans, not what's essentially compete fantasy. I appreciate the hard work that Paradox puts into its games, but this is ridiculous.

You are not the only person who plays the game. PDS is a business. If they create this DLC and it is profitable, then it is a good business decision. If it does not sell, it would be a bad business decision.

Personally I like the idea, but if you don't like it don't buy it. They are not forcing you to do anything you do not want to do.

I wish Paradox well, but I really have no idea what they're smoking right now. Maybe it's some sort of early April Fool's prank?

I agree. This is the First of I hope not many DLC's,I will be skipping.I want Ahistorical but plausible gameplay and mechanics. Not another MONGOLS type "endgame boss" for Western Europe. The mongols in game are already game breaking FIX them first.

Or put together a DLC for the Catholic Church which has a College of Cardinals and other mechanics. It doesn't have to made playable.Just make the Pope more of a problem for Kings and Emperor's.Make them want a Anti-Pope.Or maneuver their lord Spiritual onto Papal throne.

Doomdark said in the official thread that this won't take away any hours from other expansions or change the release schedule of other DLCs. It's a joke scenario, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

I think the point myself and several others are trying to get across is that Paradox could spend the time and money they're expending on this on something that will improve the core game, like the College of Cardinals.

actually, looking at it from as buissness, this is even worse. paradox is known for its quite historic strategy games. they risk to alienate a huge part of their fanbase with this, which results in less money made overall. heck, even sales of their other games can be harmed by this.

True, but take into account the cost of opportunity. Gauging by the reception this is getting, you could call itlukewarm at the very best. Spending their investment on something that is universally more desired would be a better business decision, unless there happens to be a boatload of CK2 players outside the forums who really really want an aztec dlc, which I doubt.

Personally, unless PDS can prove me that it'll be extremely fun, add alot of puns and inside jokes to go with the balls to the wall approach, and/or this becomes a necessity to play mods, it'll actually be the fist PDS dlc I skipped, and Im one of those guys who buys spritepacks and song dlcs.

As if the iberian kings dont have enough on their plate already, now even the aztecs are coming to get them... Jeez

This is impossible by definition, yes it wont affect the release of other dlcs because the callendar was established with this in mind to begin with, but unless this is the product of the work of a programmer or 2 working on their free time and volition, it cost time and money, which could have been invested somewhere else.

Well, he did. But on the other hand they could release the next GOOD DLC earlier, or make some better DLC with the hours wasted on Aztecs. I assume long term dynastic relationships would take +- same ammount of time as adding those western mongols.

And if they had artists and data entry personnel instead of proper developers (to just repaint mongols into the aztec colours)- they could fix thus Rurickovich dukes. They currently start greatly over the demensne limit for no historical reason. Even Dynasty Shields DLC does not have all the devices right. Maybe they could fix that with the spare personnel.

I have to disagree here. While I cannot say anything about this specific case I will say that when it comes to tasks requiring creativity you cannot simply count hours. If some of your team embers wish to build an Aztec DLC they could do it in a couple of weekends which they otherwise would not have worked and then get inspiration for making other things.

Now I think it might be bad for their reputation for creating only historical stuff. A zombie DLC would ahve been better since then it would ahve been an obvious joke.

I actually think this will be cool.
The frame for the Aztec Empire actually looks very cool. I imagine this will be a fresh and generally well-made DLC.

no aztecs!

this isnt a rant thread. heck, not even a reasonable discussion. this is going to be a voting thread. if you are, like me, greatly dissapointed with this new dlc and would rather have PI focus their time and recources on thigns more usefull, like a college of cardinals, bugfixing or just improving the mongol invasions, post. let it be known. let this thread grow into sizes like the quick answers thread. just post, it doesnt matter wether its a post full of reason why you dont like it or a simple DO NOT WANT, but post. the best way to signal PI besides boycotting their games is to make this thread grow into the thousands of posts, and show your dicontent of their choice of the expansion.

ill start. DO NOT WANT. waaaaaaaaaaaay to much fantasy. if this would have included early colonisation of amerika and all that sort of stuff, it would have been ok. but aztecs(of all options) invading europe? nope. i mught pick this one up once, in a sale. but this is really the first time im glad i wont be buying any games in the near future.

also, if you dont like it: dont buy it. make this a the worst DLC ever for PI that doesnt even pay for its development costs. as much as i wish PI a good future, i only wish death and destruction for these kind of DLC. i considered halfly to just go to gamex for the sake of voicing my discontent, but as thats a bit useless and it would deplete about half a year worth of money, i wont.

They already said this is not the case.

Plus I have my own theories on why it was created.

still, any work done on that DLC could also have been used for other things. unless they made this unpaid in their free time. in which case i stand corrected.

any chance youre willing to share your theories on why?

I agree with everything you said. No one should buy this to show that it's a waste of time and no one who likes historical games (which is who they're selling to...) wants it.

Also, anyone who says they like the aztecs is just trolling.
