I love EU4 but i find it very unfair to some civilizations especially the natives one, not only in term of gameplay but also historically. I'll explain myself:
Natives nations are ridicously weak, in every field:technoligical, buildings, army etc...
The doom system even if i find it to be a very good representation of these civilization fatalism make it even harder for them.
Althought it is true that europeean were much more advanced in a military technological way it is not so true about other aspects. By example, meso-american cities were much more cleaner than europeans ones cause of a very good water system.Also their administratives systems were not that archaic in comparison with europeean ones at the same time.
In term of population, technotitlan has been one of the most populated city of the world for quite a time.
And of course they were also really good in the astronomical field.
Sure they missed iron work and "real" livestock animals which was a big handicap but not as big as EU4 represent it.
Concerning the army strenght and how natives get wiped out by europeans army in a second in the game i also wanted to remind people that conquistadores invaded aztecs and incans empire by siding with their native ennemies which represented 90% of their forces.
Concerning the north americans native it is well known that iroquois and hurons were a great force that europeans had to deal with for centuries. And for west natives, their military exploits against american army who was 20*time more numerous and better equipped than them deserve to be noticed.
You see, even african tribes has less malus than native americans in this game and i just can't understand why.
