The best strategy is to invade the UK and then move everything east. Focus on building A-bombs.

OK Um unless I'm wrong Invading the Uk takes a LOT of effort that could be better spent focusing on the east. Beating Russia and forcing a 'Bitter Peace' is the best solution.

tanks and LOTS of Mech and Mot's are the way to go.

In SP, I owuld tend to agree ... take UK first and then head east. In MP, forget it. Taking UK is VERY hard. In our group, with v1.06, no one has been able to take ENG prior to '41 [if at all]. Very tough cookie now with the naval improvements, and if ENG builds and keeps pace with fighter developments.

Taking England

I'd say that for Germany conquering the British islands is of paramount importance. Forget annexing, that simply cannot be done. After that is done, usually in early 1940 drive through Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey and Iraq. You now have (almost) enough oil and nice position for a 2 front attack against the soviets in early 1941.

The answer is to write an event called The Eagle has Landed. 30% chance that Michael Caine will execute W Churchill and thus break the will of the British people.

70% Chance he will fail and be shot.

- If action A triggers, then there is a 90% chance that the shot W Churchill was really an actor!

I think that Stas is right, there is not a good strategy.

You should decide what you are going to do in each game. If the silly British AI leaves unguarded their southern coast, then attack (it happened to me, in Vanilla Normal/Normal 1.06) If your ships where sunk in a big naval battle against the Royal Navy, attack the USSR. And if you want a lot of experience for your leaders, attack with panzers Switzerland :D

The nukes are useful, but expensive to develop, and not so funny. If there is an enemy province with 100+ divisions, use them  , but I've always preferred to beat my enemies with my army.

HOWEVER, there are worst ones.
Don't invade Switzerland with Tanks.

Take the northern province with tanks. Rommel in charge. Tac Bomb the most western province until the units retreat or are destroyed. Pop in one para and annex. Tanks did the majority if not all the land combat. Works every time for me. 'Course I'm biased towards tanks.

Take out Poland. Attack France and those pissant countries to the north. Invade Denmark to secure those provinces over toward the US. Send in massive air power to destroy Englands airforce. Land troops in the north. Remove RN with Tac air. Remove England and the US threat is removed. Take on ALL the allies you can. Take control. Use them for defense, your troops for offense.

If I want a short game, thats sorta' the way I do it. Removing England early makes the game too boring. Without two fronts, I steamroll everyone else.

There are multiple strategies for the multiple goals you want to accomplish, if you want to just win, I would focus on some Naval Bombers for naval superiority and take the East first. But then again no clear strategy all are good and for the most case you will win either way.

I like to take Poland, and then the USSR (bitter peace) early in the game (1936 or 1937). Then I try to get the Balkan countries to ally with me. By this time the French and the British are just itching for war, so if they don't declare war first I do and take over Belgium to get around the Seigfried line (sp). Then I move along the coast of France and toward Paris, taking over France (setting up Vichy). Then I look for opportunities to sneak into allied provinces (UK, African coast, etc). If the US enters the war I like to take them out early before they can build up. Most of my research ends up being on land (infantry, tank) techs.

Indeed...if you tried to take on the USSR in 37 on very hard/furious...you'd be buggered.

So im assuming your playing very easy/weakling...which my cat could play...after being lobotomised. Nah i'm only joking lol.

Seigfried line? I am sure you mean the Maginot Line. Seigfried Line was the German counterpart versus the Maginot Line. Later it was a last ditch line against the Allies.

Seriously! The only way I can ever hope to beat Ivan on vh is if I generate about three uber-stacks of improved tac air. That's at least 1941 before one can do that.

And as for German nukes, way too much time spent on those 36 IC 360 day technologies for my taste. And as fun as it is to gratuitously nuke London mere hours before the gargantuan Sea Lion '45 armada leaves port, I just do not see it as a beneficial use of scarce resources.
