Hi, I've just started my first proper 1936 campaign as the US, i've only had the game a few days but i've been reading the wiki and the forum for some tips. Theres a guide on the wiki for creating a facist US scenario which i decided to do. I've been gradually moving my autocratic slider and excepting any events which make me more right wing or autocratic.

I've been beefing up my industry and preparing for simultaneous war with canada and britain when i'm autocratic enough to join the axis. The guide says the the UK will use approximatly half of it's force to invade the us and outlines a few locations were it may attack on the east coast. So i've been building an infantry and garrison wall on all the east coast beeches. Does any one know how big i have to make these garrisons? Will 2 or 3 units in each province be enough or do i have to make them even stronger?

Does anyone have any other tips for this kind of scenario? I assume canadas army will be tiny with almost no airforce or navy. Is it worth building a group of naval bombers to help against the royal navy when it eventually comes?

Canada should be a rollover.

Garrison divisions with arty brigades (preferrably 3) on every beach (start with the Atlantic if you are going to be in the Axis) in tandem with enough 4 nav bomb air squadron wings on naval strike missions to cover all adjacent sea areas will pretty much make North America impregnable. Good Pacific and Atlantic fleets that are centrally located will help as well. If that is too many garrison divisions for you, 1 or 2 will probably do. You just need to fight long enough for the nav bombers to do their work.

I like garrison divisions for coastal duty because they are almost as good on defense as regular divisions, but cheaper to build and maintain. However, they do get destroyed if forced to retreat

Thanks for the reply. I found my problems dissapeared when i declared war on guatemala to get rid of the IPC cut. I kinda wish i hadn't though, i can see why people see it as cheating, my coast is fairly secure now.

Although i noticed germany sent it's bombers to the panama canal to bomb guatemala, hopefully it won't effect the war in europe.

The US is only a real enemy in naval combat because of their huuuuuuuuuge fleet and their immense building capacity. But they can't be everywhere.
Once you land on US soil, they are done.

There should be events to reflect crazy hillbilly uprisings that prevent you from steamrolling the US once you landed

I joined the axis before the war on poland. They took poland but i think the german ai broke, they stopped having any interest in any historical war mongering. By then i had a larger army then germany and was more then ready for war with the allies, so i declared war on canada. My sliders where still pretty bad (i was concentrating on becoming facist) and the massive dissent hit i got overloaded my TC. I made canada a facist puppet and i've mostly wiped out the british and french navy (and staved off a combined australian/new zealand invasion of alaska) but germany still isn't moving on france, just bombing their border armies. I think i'll start again with a somewhat more challanging country and try not to break germany.
