Why can't I place newly built TP or NAVAL units in occupied Greece (athens) as the NAZIS.

I've ran into this before playing as GER, and I can't remeber how. Im trying to Get Rommel over to Africa cause Il duce's butt is getting whooped.

I've built new TP and NAVY but can only depoly in the Usual, Rostock, kiel , Wilf etc.

AoD has modded this feature so that you can produce units in 'overseas' territories according to their IC, but with the big reduction in IC due to annexation I think it's likely that you'll need a land connection. If you've annexed Greece you shouldn't need a land connection all the way to Athens though, only to the port at which you wish to deploy your builds.

If you puppeted Croatia, and if Hungary and Romania still exist, then your land connection from Berlin to Athens is broken. When the Croatia puppet event fires, CRO will come into being and block your access to Greece. This is a (minor) bug as far as I am concerned, and it was fixed in the TRP mod for HOI2. Maybe this could get fixed in the next AoD patch? It is probably less than 3 minutes of work.

Being able to deploy ships you started building in Germany anywhere else is clealry impossible IRL and therefore very gamey. If you started building it before you controlled a port then its not quite as gamey!

With regard to Transports you have my sympathy - I'm sure in real life you would requisition / charter available merchant shipping in the region and use that. One work around is going into the save file and change the province ID for transports you have just built and had to deploy to your own ports.

It is almost impossible to resist deploying any ships you have under construction to Athens when they are being built in Northern Germany. I try not to do it, honest. Transports, yes, plenty of requisitioning material there but have you tried to get past the Allied blockade, toast you'll be.

I'd still like to see ships built in naval yards in provinces where sufficient infrastructure and port engineering services exist. This would avoid lots of gamey tactics and would allow ship building programmes to be slowed, interrupted by bombing.

sounds like a nice idea, maybe you shoud be able to strategically redeploy ships since you can strategically redeploy accross allied territory?

Sorry, no I don't think you should be able to SR ships once built as only MTB/S boats (outside the game) were treated in this way as far as I am aware. The Athens case is very relevant for a German player; it has excellent facilities and can be used as a base for a German submarine/cruiser port but there is no access to it (with Gibralter/Suez in the hands of Allies) so deploying ships to Athens straight from your build queue should not be possible.

The only effective way of doing this I think is to link the building of ships to a physical port (subject to sufficient facilities and infrastructure), this allows ships to be bombed in construction and most interestingly over-run in defeat or victory which you could have the option of losing the partially built ship or continuing the existing build in your production, respectively.

Yeah probably true, though im pretty pretty sure PI will never never do it sadly. SR would at least offer a simple fix, but your right, once built it would be unlikely to dissasemble a ship and drive it accross land.

Excellent point. I wonder if that is doable.

Stupid question, would it be possible to trade Italy for one of their transports, or would that transport be magically transferred to Germany?
In HoI 2 HSR I avoided getting into North Africa, I tried to prevent the Italians from collapsing with massive air aid. But you have to be EXTREMLY careful that your allies don't leave the airbases undefended and a British sea invasion wipes out your air fleets!
Has anyone tried if a big submarine campaign helps the Italians?

Also, make sure that you annex Yugoslavia BEFORE you bring Bulgaria into the Axis, because if not Bulgaria will take the Macedonian provinces of Yugoslavia which will also block your connection to Greece.

Sorry, I was only looking to get some TP's to Athens and make the scary jump from Athens-Crete-Africa for my Afrika Corps.

Im not going to build a 30 fleet Navy that wouldnt be prudent.

Now that i Think the problem is the Land Link through Dumb Croatia I can hopefully get my TP's built in Athens.

Depends on the ship. You are aware of how the Germans got uboats into the Red Sea?

It involved trains  ...
