AVG Free keeps telling me that CiM is malware, moving it to virus vault and, in one case, shutting down my PC to protect is. That has happened with two different computers and I have default settings for AVG. Anyone else getting this?

I know it isn't malware, but I still wonder why is is registering as such... TBH, its definitely putting me off buying it. I could exclude it, but I'm not inclined to do so til I know why this is happening, though as I said I'm 100% confident it isn't malware.

This is the first time hearing about such issue. May I ask if you downloaded the demo from Fileplanet or somewhere else?
From fileplanet. I had the same issue with the beta. I could download and install it no problem, but when I ran it the problems started. And like I said, this happened on both my laptop and PC.

Since the file you are getting from Fileplanet is definitely not a malware, could you please try install the game again and give us the actual name it reports?
Also, what version of AVG free are you using? Both the virus definition file and the application. It could very possibly be related to an old virus definition.
What version of Windows are you using as well, and.. I am not too familiar with AVG Free but if there is a 64bits version of it, are you running a 64bits version?

i've had this happen with a few games lately, mostly steam ones. I'm currently working on the assumption that some of AVGs scanning methods are slightly off.
The message I get BTW is telling me it may be a PUP (potentially unwanted programme) of type "unknown"(does this sound familiar).
normally I just ignore it and it doesn't come up next time.
you could try poking around the resident shield settings. Don't forget about the extra ones in advanced mode.

Just to update.
I can't do as you ask because i have uninstalled both, but I'm 100% sure AVG was the problem. I reinstalled that and it caused me loads of new problems with the PC, it's to do with the settings I think. Not the first time I'be had trouble with it so going to change to Avast I think.

If you told devs which exactly virus gets detected, they'd look at the signature and maybe move some tiny piece of code around so it's not caught by AVG when the full game hits the stores. And we wouldn't have to answer "is this virus" threads instead of modding Warsaw into the game...

Indeed. But I didn't see it when it happened and with all due respect, I'm not reinstalling both AVG and the demo to reproduce this. It not only gave me the virus warning, it caused a problem where my PC shuts down every 5 minutes even after the demo was uninstalled. I think it's pretty understandable that I don't want to do it again. If it's any sort of a big problem, no doubt someone else will experience it.
To reiterate: this was NOT the fault of the game but of AVG and my PC. Don't be put off getting the demo cause of this.

Avast is generally known as a better choice but personally I don't like it and would rather live with AVGs quirks.
The main thing is to always look at the description when you get a virus warning. Sometimes things can act like a virus but they actually are perfectly innocent.

Well I would see it the way that we'd inform AVG about the problem and they would be the ones moving tiny piece of code around to fix the problem
