Avar Khaganate achievement

I don't really go for the achievements, but I was looking at this one... potentially interesting.

But I'm wondering: is the 'Avaria' that's in the game the same one that was in Carpathia in the Ck2 era? Did they get ejected by the Hungarians & migrate over to the Caucasus? What's the connection... or is there one?

The Caucasian Avars and the Pannonian Avars were/are different peoples which are called by the same name. The demonym "Avar" is not a name either people is known to have called themselves by, but a foreign name with Latin origins, so you can understand how a mix-up may have occurred. The medieval Pannonian "Avars" have unknown ethnic/linguistic backgrounds afaik and I'm not sure if their descendants still exist in numbers today, whereas Caucasian Avars are a significant minority in Russia and Azerbaijan.

The achievement name is more of a pun than anything.

Now can you explain the mystery of where the Romanians came from? My personal theory is that they were refugees who fled the chaos & bloodshed when the Western RE fell, and settled over there, in that general area north of the new/current RE capital.

And while we're at it, what is the connection between the Bolghars (Turkic peoples of the steppes & western Ural regions), and... Bulgaria?

I have many questions, but these have been pestering me for quite some time.
