I can sort of feel the OPs pain. I fulfill the min reqs (only vid card is below recomended Reqs) and have constant stutter. 22hours abd only in the hundreth year XD. I think I am going to restart non-ironman and hope my willpower pulls me through.
I feel like more than half of the game time is wasted on autosavings since about 1550s.
This was me this morning. I had just finished a long nasty war and was running on max speed to rebuild manpower and the treasury. I started counting and the time it took to get through a month was about 6 seconds and the time it took to get through an autosave was about 7 seconds.
What I don't understand is, last night I was playing the same game and right before I quit and went to bed my autosaves were running at about 3 seconds. I started up this morning and they were up to 7 and nothing had changed within the game.
Local internet upload speeds? It might be better if the saves were encrypted or something and put on your HD.
I have no issues with the ironman mode but I do have an SSD disk. Paradox saves have always been big. Actually, fastest speed is too fast at ironman and one slower is too slow. I need a setting in between. Making the auto save interval too long would enable easy cheating but maybe they could compensate by autosaving at the most important actions like war.
LordG
I am also suffering from annoying stutter, I believe its because of a combination of steam cloud and monthly autosave.
In my opinion the saves should be kept on a local disk and transferred to the cloud only when you quit the game.
Also, the game should only save when you make a decision or quit the game, that way you can fast forward a bit.
Why is it people always come on and make some snarky comment about either L2P or update your machine. My machine is fine, upgrading my gpu to a titan would cost $1k and would grant me nothing in this game. My CPU could be updated to some extent, but there's no reason to believe it will be beneficial overall for this game and if by chance it was, it would only be marginally so. When people say the problem isn't related to their PC, but to how the autosaving is handled, perhaps, just perhaps, they know what they're talking about.
What if achievements were done that if the console was used for any command that achievements are disabled entirely on that save?
I don't think it would be my local speed. I'm on a 20mb cable connection but if I have trouble with it, it's usually in the evening during peak internet usage time in the neighborhood. I don't think there is much demand at 8:30 in the morning.
I was wondering if maybe steam does something in the morning on their end that could slow things down.
Thing is, they may be called achievements, but they really mean nothing in the end. Just a cute little popup in a game saying you did something mildly interesting. Many are not difficult (as in EUIV's securing a marriage, or winning a war). They're just something to give you to strive towards for an intangible reward.Because the biggest problem is save games.
If you can constantly reload wherever you want the human player becomes invincible and the achievements mean absolutely nothing anymore.
There is always regular mode if Ironman is a problem, they arn't wrecking anyones game.
Could use some streamlining to reduce the lag.
The save is only uploaded to steam when you quit the game (as far as I can tell). I managed to speed up the game considerably by moving the steam install folder to SSD (my standard steam installation is on a USB drive).
