I play GER 36 with old guard remove -event. In 39, I already have about 90 units, but stil only 2 FMs, 1Gen... I have a feeling, that no land-leader got promoted, since I turned the autopromotion on. Any experiences with that?

With the default Germany Promotion Levels you should have 1.8 Feld Marchals and 2.79 GeneralsI play GER 36 with old guard remove -event. Not always. Playing USA, I often see Vadms with active commands whom I want promoted while in the pool others have been promoted to Adm.Autopromotion is working correctly in Beta 2.
Make sure that the commanders that you want promoted are in active commands... they get priority.
I play 1.3 beta. Units in command are supposed to get preference.Naval and air leaders get autpromoted when they are NOT in command, while land commanders get autopromoted when they are in command. Different rules.
I don't know why, but it is irritating.Btw, playing as Germany some leaders sometimes get auto promoted above their "cap". Like Blaskowitz pretty often get auto promoted to FM, even though his ideal rank is 1 and his "rank 0 year" is 1990. This happens sometimes even though I have other generals (like von Weichs, von Kleist, Busch, von Küchler etc) who should get promoted to FM in 1942 or 1943. I haven't noticed this before 1.3... Does anybody know why this is this happening?
Rank year is mostly for the AI I thought.
Perhaps, I have no idea how it works really. I assumed rank year determine when the auto promoter promotes a leader.
I don't get why people disband the old guards since most of them have logistic wizards and defence doctrines, stuff that you use for garrison duty.
It doesn't.
The BEST WAY to get all your good mj. generals promoted to lt. general is to promote all your current crappy lt. generals or FMs or generals. Just keep promoting the lt. generals until your mj. generals get promoted to lt. general. This way you have to promote to generals and FMs manually, but even if you didn't do this you would only get maybe 4-5 free general promotions and maybe 1-2 FM promotions as Germany for the entire war. Being able to control and get as many free lt. general promotions as you want far outweighs the cost though.
