Is there a way to automatically empty landfills when they're full? Or say like - 50% of the garbage trucks work for collecting the trash - and 50% send it to the incinerator?
Because it's getting very annoying to always check 5-6 landfills and empty them manually or stop the emptying progress.

Or alternatively, do the incinerators also collect garbage from households? I always assumed that I *need* landfills, but maybe that's not even necessary...

Yeah no problem. The trick is to get to incinerators fast enought that you don't have to build too many landfills already. My last city I got to 3 landfills before getting incinerators and had to wait for all of them to empty before I could delete them so I was paying for both for awhile which was annoying. My first city I only had 2 landfills before getting incinerators which was a little better.

I've been using incinerators (and crematoriums, same thing ;) ) because they don't fill up.

However, there is a mod ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=407873631&searchtext= ) which will set garbage and graveyards to start and stop emptying automatically which I will try. I'd like to put graveyards in as they're pretty but I don't want to micromanage.

It would be better if the incinerators picked the garbage up from the landfills.

I want my landfill trucks to pick up the garbage take it to the landfills then the incinerator trucks to collect it from there to take it to the incinerator. And if I empty a landfill I want them to take it to the incinerator, not the closest other landfill with some space.

I tries to build a little network of landfills to incinerators but that doesnt work.

How is that better? Sounds to me like you'd have twice the number of truck trips. Twice the loading and unloading. Kinda inefficient.

At the minute the landfills and incinerators compete against each other, it would be better if they could work together as a team. Instead of one truck doing the whole thing, the whole journey, going round collecting from the streets and taking it to the incinerator, one truck could go around the streets picking up the garbage and take it to the landfill while another truck can deliver it back and forth to the incinerators. That should be more efficient.

Thats how it worked in SC4.

Also, it kinda sucks that a full landfill ceases functioning. It would be cool if the trucks continued their works, just dropping of the garbage at the closest empty landfill. I probably understand why it is so currently but I sure hope it can be changed in the future. Also, I would switch the number of trucks for incinerator and landfill so that you have a reason to keep landfill (more trucks).
