I started a USA campaign with the intent of joining the Axis faction and going on a conquering spree in the Americas.

So I build up threat against Canada while shoring up relations and trade with Germany, Japan, and Italy. By mid-1941, I am quite firmly in the fascist corner of the spectrum and am ready to declare war on Canada -which I do.

So I'm at war with Canada and their allies - Great Britain, France, etc.

However, despite our good relations, Japan declares a limited war against me (Probably to seize the Philippines) I look at the diplo tab and notice in great consternation that I cannot sue for peace because "faction members cannot negotiate peace with each other" I then notice that I am in the Allies faction.

I am still at war with all the members of the Allies faction, yet, I get a call-to-arms request from Great Britain.

The icon disappears as soon as I click it and it seems to have automatically accepted without waiting for me to click either "decline" or "accept". I am now at war with Germany, and thus at war against all the Axis.

How did this happen?

I'm at war with most of the world, yet in the allied faction so I can't negotiate for peace. The British will ask for lend-lease while attacking my forces on Iceland. Did I break my game?

P.S. this is unrelated but after making it to 1942, I decided I'd had enough and tag switched to Switzerland to observe the mess, after giving the US 10 nukes through console. The AI US uses all 10 nukes on Yemen and Greece on only 3 total cities, which get hit multiple times in a row. By 1944, A.I. control diplomacy decides to surround me with enemies by aligning with the Axis - after Soviet troops have begun pouring into the German heartland, some even reaching our northern borders, along with French units having occupied northern Italy. Genius!
