@Zsar1 . Sorry in advance for being vague on this one. It's a long standing issue and I don't know how it's calculated in the first place.


But me and many players have had the issue of land units being routed, and when they retreat they move to the most annoying places, i.e.

* They retreat to another province on the frontline that will soon be over-run or encircled
* They retreat to another province which takes the longest time to reach

Ideally they would retreat to a province the player can chose (in DH there's a mission where you can tell the unit what province to move to in case they are defeated in battle). Or they automatically retreat to the closest province, or the one that is best defended.

And sometimes units of AI take the most curios routes of escape over several provinces. Militias might rethreat over an area covering the better part of france or similar:

Until, I Ragequit because of the same old Pdox mechanics really annoys me move of having a single italian division, militia nonetheless. retreating and rushing straight across France. Yep no, maybe in a few years I'll be willing to deal with the idea of 1000 sunday warriors armed with muzzleloaders overrunning the police of a modern nation.. I could just reload but hey, why waste the time? maybe I'll load up EU2 to watch a single unit army take over the Incan empire.

Surprise quote! WOuld it be possibly to tweak attrition in such a way that it simulated actual routing, ie a having a beaten and retreating unit that winds up behind the borders dissolve.
