My first game in VIP:R

Playing as Russia.

Declare war on China.

Both Chinas satelites declare war on me.

Log then tells me I accepted peace with them as return to status quo, I was never given the option on this.

In war with Amman, Cambodia declared on me as satelite, no automatic peace.

Is this supposed to happen.

Cheers

I think it's meant to represent that while Sinkiang and Ryuku were satelites of China in the time period covered, they weren't involved in China's foreign wars like the Opium Wars so they have events that automatically make peace when dragged into a war with China. I don't know if other satelites have similar events, I only remember it applying to China's two satelites.

I think it may be the game mechanics here. You have probably asked for a full peace from the alliance leader (whoever has the highest overall score) thus meaning their satellites get peace with you too.

I think he's talking about the automatic peace events for uncivilised placeholder nations, like the American natives. IIRC China's two puppets at game start are Kashgar and Ryukyu.

It's happening with the Indian princely states now too.

So if your plan is to declare war on Britain and capture some capitals in India to force them to make peace, think again.:(

Yeah, it happens with loads of minors in AI-AI situations. This is to maintain the historic flow (such nations weren't involved in these wars), and therefore some strange circumstances which we can much do without.

I've noticed Argentina sometimes delcares war on Patagonia in the late 1880s going into the 1890s. I know Patagonia isn't a satellite, but seeing as it's a placeholder nation like Sioux and Apache, maybe there should be automatic peace events for Patagonia too?

Not sure about auto-peace for Patagonia, but perhaps having a solution whereby in all AI situations Argentina (or Chile) secede lands to the other colonizer there afterwards. Something like "Maintaining the Balance in Patagonia".

New situation.

Now playing as UK

DoW French satelite in West Africa. Tarza I think.

France declares war on me.

Tarza auto peaces out.

This leaves me in a colonial war with France who currently has no colonies.

I was not attacking to get France to give me a favorable peace. I was attacking to take over Tarza as it is the only non British land in Africa.

I have been through this cycle 3 times now.

Frustrated - Yep.

It seems I must make all of France British before I came take a small West African country.
