Hi,

I have a really stupid question... is it possible to MOVE / CHANGE / DELETE the entrances that are automatically placed to the closest road, when creating metro/underground stops?

I am asking because during the campaign I had the "great" idea to place the metro tracks next to the motorway. However since the motorway is closer than the next normal street, the metro entrance is placed on the highway. Which is rather odd? So I thought it might be a good idea to move the entrance to another road which is basically only 4 pixels further away (but I don't want to move the tracks otherwise I'd destroy the houses inbetween!).

However I couldn't find an option to move the entrance. If that's not possible, I strongly suggest this as an upcoming feature to be implemented?

And even better: it would be nice to place multiple entrances (so people don't have to walk 3km to the next junction crossing and then 3km back) because apparently people in this game only know how to cross at junction crossings and don't just cross the road as normal people do. ;) Though this creates the most funny scenes sometimes if you see 200 people leaving two trains walking in one long line like an ant colony on a day trip to get to the next bus stop. ;)

Not possible, sorry :-(

I'd like it to be like it is right now, automated, but having the option to delete the entrances the game makes for you and place additional entrances for a cost. The further away from the station, the higher the cost.

Is it possible to move the other road closer? Sometimes a small branchoff is all you need for the metro to move it's entrance.

I usually take care when placing down metro station, after some practice you can with fairly good accuracy guess where the entrance/exit will end up!

If you want your entrance to be in certain place you can always bulldoze all the roads in the area of the future station except for the one you want your entrance to be. Then you can place the station which will create the entrance on the closest possible road and rebuild the other roads. There are however two problems connected with this method: 1. It's costly if you care about money and 2. You must be careful not to bulldoze/alter the road on which your entrance is because it will clear you entrance and recreate it elsewhere.

It doesn't work. I accidentally tried it on my first game: I built a metro station on the edge of the city, then I expanded the city a bit with a couple of new roads. After a bit I found that the entrance to the station was relocated on the closest of the new road. I didn't see if that happened automatically or when I reloaded the game, but that's it.

If i am correct i belive it updates when its used by people it most likely checks to see the closest road for them to go onto each time someone goes up thats why if you put a road close to the station eventually the entrance will move :) ( i think)

Whynot: First Click: Positon of station second click position of entrance.

I'd like this option a lot, some games have similar approaches to that issue. (though I wouldn't know one right now, but I know I played a couple with that feature) And even the Sims (dare anyone laughing) has the same approach when playing an item. First you click to place the item and then you adjust the direction. It shouldn't be too difficult to use that for this game to place the entrances.

It's costly if you care about money and 2. You must be careful not to bulldoze/alter the road on which your entrance is because it will clear you entrance and recreate it elsewhere.

The issue is also that you sometimes (or in my case most of the times) already have stops on that road anyway, to provide the CiMs with a connecting transit. Which means your whole transportation network is screwed up if you bulldoze the road and then the 2-4 other bus/tram/trolley stops are gone as well (and the tracks along with it) and you have to recreate them, you have to do the whole line assignment from scratch because the game doesn't fit the current assignment and totally screws up the path. Either way, that is not an option. :-( That might work in an early stage when you hardly build anything. But not in an advanced game where one line is relying on the other (or simply several stops AND tracks share the same spot).
