It would be nice if you can autobuilding armyunits or/and
improving of your citys
It should also be :) if you can autosend colonist to
specific province you want to develope.
Is this possible?

Now you are talking, this REALLY would be an improvement in the game. The autobuilding of units is a questionnable feature, but the autoimprovement of cities is worth thinking about. When I play Spain, having conquered and settled almost the entire south americas and being loaded with lots of money I think it is annoying having to go to every province to start an improvement if my technology upgrades. This is a feature that must be included in EU2, one that I consider necessary.

I think it sounds good and all, and I'd like to see the autosend colonists myself :)

I sue am! The game EU is cool, but the inability to 'automate' a lot of standard operations annloyed me a lot, mostly when I was power-mongering and eating countries for breakfast. You have to continuously follow what's going on all around the world, which stinks when you want to focus for example on a particular conflict. What would be nice if you could specify a path of development which the game has to follow, for example:

- after a colony has been "cleared" of natives, press a "colonization button":
1. Send colonist (or merchant if you prefer the safe road)
2. send colonists until colony level=city
3. Develop tax collectors, majors, city walls in a determined sequence, when money is available, depending on technology. If technology<>maximum wait until development and continue.

Something like that.

Just look at how well the ai does it for itself, then consider whether you want it to handle it for you, too... :D

Actually I would like it to do this kind of stuff, too, but then the game starts to turn into you (the player) truely being the prime minister and not an active actor in the actual events, simply someone giving orders. I like that, but it's a different game than EU.

If it was an option, I'd "automatically" disable it-the AI would almost certainly just end up spending your money at a point when you would vastly prefer to use if for something else. Murphy's Law!

People people people.

This is good idea, but not a new idea.

This is calling QUEING, or putting game commands in a cue.

The purpose is to avoid repetitive commands that you would normally do over and over anyways.

Warcraft 1 did not have this. Players demanded the next game have it. So Warcraft 2 had the ability to cue unit production and building uogrades. Guess what? It became one of the landmark best selling games of all time.

Civilization 1 did not have queing, all builds were done manually, one at a time. Players demanded the next game have it, so Civ2 added the queing ability. Guess what? Civ2 went into history as a landmark strategy best selling game.

I can go on and on... but I hope you get the picture. The ability to put commands in a que is a trait of an advanced and well developed strategy game, especially a game with such a huge and complex scope such as EU.

The ability to que (unit production and building upgrades) simply takes away the tedious mouse-click commands that are repetitive and boring, and it allows the player to focus and strategize on the more important aspects of empire building.

I know this is just queueing.......but I also don't think it'd work in the game because the dynamics and mechanisms of play are too different. Take Civilisation, for example. Each city uses its' own production for construction. EU uses the national treasury.

Imagine this............War declared 31 December, Money in treasury 1 January. Autobuild uses this to start upgrading say, legal conuncils. 2 Jan, player hits pause "time to build military units........where's my money, oh damn, loan time."

Or, "time to repay loan..........where's the cash gone."

The player needs to retain control in EU, it's as simple as that. I don't mind it as an option, but it's not one I'd ever use!

Not meaning to pick nits (well, I guess I am meaning to), but don't you mean queue? I think you spelled it four different ways in your post ;)

Of course my spelling can be pretty abysmal so I shouldn't be throwing too many stones.

While I think the idea has some merit, I don't think it is nearly as necessary in EU as it was in some of the games you mentioned which limited you to producing one unit at a time. Generally in EU at the early stages I am quite busy juggling my finances and keeping my inflation down to queue a bunch of production.

Auto-dispatching merchants is a similar concept, but unfortunately pretty broken unless you have lots of money and merchants.

There's also another solution to this problem. You have in EU1 the book with all the data about your empire. It would be handy to have a page of possesions, where you can see what is developed in it and what not. And the possibility to tag what you would like to develop.
I indeed hate it to search for city's to develop, but don't object to search for the places to make armies, they are quickly found.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. And yeah, I admit I never really cared about it's proper spelling. The way you spelled it sounds right. :)

As for your example of autosend merchants, yes this is basicly an example of the queue. The problem is that the autosend merchants makes really dumb choices for you, it really needs to be improved. But we both know that the intent is good. It was *intended* to make life simpler for the player, especially a newbie player who does not want a huge learning curve.

OOps!

Agelastus you may have a negitiv mind whith Murphy's Law!
But if you are leding a country
You should have a good inlook in your countrys economics
In EU2 they should have a better economi report
Were yoy can se income/spending better.
Today you can auto send traders why not people to
your new colonis or if you whant to spend a lot of money
in one city, why not.

Maybe I do.........but since I regard anyone who relies on the AI component of the game to be a raving, ah, "optimist", I guess that's all right then.

If you delegate some area to the AI it will assume, with one treasury, that you've prioritised this function. I already pointed out a couple of the problems that could arise in a "Real-Time" game. I'd prefer not to be caught short by the mistakes of an electronic minion as well as my own.:)
