Due to an incident in this topic, I wondered if there could be an in-game solution.

And I could imagine a kind of automatic build routine for the map edge would be a viable solution. About as:

Auto-Build-Option.jpg

Subsequently, a motorway segment is built right up to the own map. And the problem would be solved.

That's why I think it's possible:
  • A trigger is given
  • The location and type of trigger are known
  • Editable and non-editable areas can be recognized
  • Possible nearby nodes can serve as a guide to build an automatic path (if that doesn't work, which I don't think the game is too good for;), you can work with a hidden asset)

What else could you do with this function? - Scenarios!

You have a lot of triggers in the game, but unfortunately few effects. This new function could be used as an effect and bring a lot of variety when playing scenarios with this function.
For example, an external rail connection to the city is built after a trigger and you now have to use this connection to cope with the scenario.

Hope for approval for this idea.

That would be a really good idea.

Connections over a tile edge can't be deleted easily, but there are combinations where this could happen.

So your idea, not so wrong.

Think that such a functionality is possible.

I think the better solution is to just fix the bugs that allow the deletion in the first place. You are not supposed to be able to delete anything that crosses the boundary, so when it does happen it is 100% an unintentional behavior, a.k.a. "bug". This means the best course of action is to document and report, not try and invent a base game feature that might introduce more problems than it solves.

I did read the other thread. You created a situation that allowed you to delete a road partially outside the build area. That is a bug. This bug is reported as fixed in a later version, and from what I can tell no one else can replicate. Seems like the process is working to me. . .
