In most of you folks shield-mods etc, the Austrian flag and shield is the horizontal red/white lines. But in the game Austia is supposed to represent the habsburg familys belonings, thus should the original Habsburg shield/flag be used? After all the Habsburg posessions in the low countries and france wasn't Austria, but Habsburg owned land.

Please tell me your views on the subject...

PS: Sorry about the stinkin' english...

The shield itself always was composed of the arms of the many territories the Emperors put their claims on. These arms were always personal arms.

I've done several shields for Austria.

HAB.gif

This is the shield of the Duchy of Austria and it dates back to the 13th century. However it's origin is not known.

AUSTRIA_OLD.gif

This combines the arms of the Habsburg dynasty and Austria. (I've done this one so I guess we can call it fitional). :)

The above arms are the so-called small arms of Arch-Duchy of Austria, one of the two main territories in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. The arms combine the lion of the Habsburg dynasty with the silver bar of the Duchy of Austria and the arms of Lotharingen (now Lorraine, France)

Same arms but with the imperial eagle as supporter.

I'm not sure at all about the flag.

I never stopped, it's just that I've become less and less into creating shields since there are only so many to create and I'm playing other games (WarCraft III) until the release of Crusader Kings. I do make updates, although very infrequent to my site. As of now I'm only doing slow work on an Italian shield for 1419-1820 that could possibly be included into the EEP but that's about it.

I think this is the right shield. The shield with the red and white lines is the current flag of Austria, the flag of Republic of Austria and not the Habsburg duchy of Austria. And the original Paradox Austria flag is just fine (it is historical ).

Yes, the shield with the lion looks very great. I'm just wandering why nobody made Austrian/Habsburg shields like these before. At all, the lion is the symbol of the Habsburg family, however I still say that the original yellow eagle flag is the historical. We used to see a lot , here in Hungary. :( The shield with the lion and the flag with the eagle.

EDIT: Eh...Can't download yours, Fate. It's a 0kByte zip file.

Grrr, I am sure you only say that to frighten me.

But really, I think the banner should have to do something with their names. Obviously not 1419, but maybe earlier they could have had an eagle (even if not a red Atreides style). In case of the Burgundy I have heard there banner showed a Gundwurm/Gundworm. We could translate that as battle dragon. I searched for a burgundian dragon banner, but found one. But the remark of the dragon banner refered to their first kingdom at the Rhein, 1000 years BEUII (= before EU II).
