Austria Demo Start vs. Rebels

They're going to secede no matter what you do, so just march your army up (break it into quarters first so attrition doesn't kill you) - make sure you get military access on the way - kill their stacks one at a time. Then you can either take a few provinces now (might piss off France) or just peace out, wait the truce out, and reconquest everything for zero Aggressive Expansion.
What I did was take Antwerp and release Brabant, which I immediately reconquered. Didn't even have to cancel an alliance first like in EU3!
It seems to me that the demo start date could have been better selected (or given a bit of a strategic tutorial). I don't know how much EU experience you have, but for people new to the series or new to Paradox entirely, even countries as powerful as these four can throw you for a bit of a loop. Portugal has the whole "England releases your cores to Morocco" thing, Venice is about to get jumped by the League of Cambrai and powerful Ottomans, Austria has a frankly ridiculous 60k rebel stack, an instant secession which releases a country that you can't get back in the first war, an equally ridiculous 66k starting army which will attrition away if you don't split it up, military access issues, and an HRE which will easily vote someone else emperor if you don't pursue active diplomacy (something which isn't explained in that much depth in the tutorial).
It was quite quite easy. Split up your 66 stack into quarters (avoid attrition through empire), walk through HRE, combine stacks in your provinces, pick apart one stack of Flanders at a time. The AI, most of the time, isn't smart enough to stop sieging and engage you in the battle. They have about 88k (four 22k stacks?), but you have tactics.

I had the Flemish go bankrupt when I tried out Austria. I had decided to ignore them and take over Bavaria to try out the Personal Union thing, but eventually got a pop-up "Flanders has declared bankruptcy". It was fun to see their whole military vanish into smoke.
I took care of it rather easily- if you concede to demands, Flanders DOESN'T become independant, just gets local automony.
