US Army decides to loan side arms to peace corp units deployed in the Pacific Ocean region.
US Army sources have confirmed small numbers of 0.45 cal pistols and 0.38 cal revolvers are being deployed to peace corps units currently deployed in the western pacific.
Peace corp unit commander Mr Chuck Vanderbilt VII has advised reporters that following informal interaction with Jap forces in Micronesia it has been agreed amongst command representitives that "whilst the representatives of the Japanese emperor may be thouroughly useful chaps they are certainly not gentlemen!!" As a result small numbers of sidearms have been issued. In a similar move the New York Times has been reliably informed that all British troops now deployed to malaya will deploy with officers equipped with sharpened umbrellas. Official british sources have noted that this should "bring the jap to think twice about attacking in south asia".

Another good question Allan ... well to put it in perspective latest reports from Osaka are that hamburger production has ceased entirely leaving the populace without any food at all. This is a big job. I am negotiating a pay rise as we speak.
