Good session for Germany.
May - August 1942
Large gains were made on the Russian front. In the Centre provinces were exchanged with the USSR back and forth as the soviets tried to push the Germans back. Stalin must have thought German froces would be weak and out numbered. Hitler knew stalin would try and counter in large groups while the main german offensive was in another part of the front.
Due to the large amount of ground infantry had to march through and new units being deloyed it took along time for Forces to be assembled in preperation for the German advance.
Forces already on the front took advanatage of the Soviets staying along way behind the front line. Although this may help stalin sit back and counter attack, it also allowed German forces to advance months in advance of the main attack and allowed the infrsturcture to improve before the main push. Hitler was most pleased with this, as German forces could form up with out hinderance.
The main objective for the Summer of 1942 was going to be Stalingrad. Hitler was determined to avoid a bad dream he had about the destruction of an an entire army in this city. Large infantry armies and panzers assembled for the main offensive. The main thrust came from the north of stalingrad to ensure any large soviet counter attacks could be countered them selves and any breakout of soviet forces around moscow could be quickly reinforced. The infantry would hold the flanks while the panzers advanced across the river and attempted to encircle the soviet city. After a few large battles where soviet forces were beaten without to much effort German panzers pushed across the river to the north of stalingrad and threatened to encircle 3 entire soviet armies.
At this point stalin lost his nerve and abandoned stalingrad with out a fight for the City. German forces occupied the city without 1 soldier being killed. The city has been renamed to Hitlerville.
At this point German forces are pushing in nearly all directions pushing the front further out before winter. Large axis forces nubering some 100 divisions are pushing into the cacauses that helped secure the southern flank of the stalingrad offensive. The norther forces of the stalingrad front are pushing beyond stalingrad until they find the soviet front line once again and will settle in for winter. In the centre and north the panzers are continuing to batter soviet armies as the drive north to route remaining soviet armies on the central front. This is being supported by large amounts of new infantry assembled in the central front as a reserve force to counter soviets attacks from the moscow.
Hitler is happy with events in the east, tough fighting around mosocw but this was only a diversionary front for the main advance in the south in 1942. 1943 should bring some decisive battles for key cities in the north.
In the Atlantic there was little to nil action. German forces strengthened the defnesives in France, Northern Germany, Norway and Iceland. Large fortification works continued in vulnerable beaches, the atlantic wall is now a reality. Fortifications works continued on Iceland and the Azores in preperation for an allied assult on these islands at some point in the future.
Hitler noted with great delight at Japans success in India and soon hopes to link up with the mighty Japanese Empire. It was also pleaseing to hear there was great divide amongst the US and UK leadership. The UK apperently blames the US for most of it losses even though the US has only been in the war for 8-9 months. Hitler thinkgs Churchill should calm down and allow his US and Russian allies time to gather there strength it is only 1942, the axis are supposed to still be on the march and then slowly turn in 43 if it does.
With 1943 just around the corner and India under Japense control, will the Japense threat turn north against Russia via persia and link up with the Germans and perhaps a massive push into Siberia. Does the USSR have the capcity to resits the axis for much longer after the allies have been decisely defeated and now the full might of the axis will decend upon the USSR in 1943.
The final question must be asked where are the Americans? Do they have an army, fleet or airforce? If so where and when will they strike. With nearly all of asia and now africa under axis control can the US and its industrial might roll back the axis forces. German intel reveals the loss of India has reduced British morale to new depths, it seems Churchill needs a victory to stave of a revolution at home.
Play on gunny, dont do a major and become a white towel thrower.
