Our two Salvagers have been launched. We are only waiting for the first of the Point Defense ships to finish their fleet training, and ten we can mount a wreck recovery operation in the Tau Ceti system, covered by the bulk of the battle fleet.
You are the commander of Fighter Squadron VF-14, on board the ESN Audacity. You can name the Squadron. Crew Training 75, Fleet Initiative 156, Fighter Combat Bonus 300, Espionage +15%, Cheerful, Many Social Interests.
Suggested names for the new colony world?
I suggest Eridu.
Actually I'd like a colony named "Gaiuscia" in honour of our first interstallar casualty.
We have established our first interstellar colony, on the third planet of the Epsilon Eridani system. It currently enjoys the undistinguished name "Epsilon Eridani A-III". Should we rename it?
FYI, the constellation Eridanus (in which sector this star lies) represents the Celestial River, associated with the Po by the Greeks and Romans, and with Eridu by the Babylonians. It is connected with the ancient myth of Phaeton, who went joy-riding in the solar chariot of his father Helios, and was killed by a thunderbolt from Zeus when his irresponsible actions threatened the Earth.

I kinda like Eridu and I think before we start naming colonies after people who die in battle we should wait for someone a tad more important to perish. Lets wait till at least our first battle group makes contact with enemy and maybe we get lucky and Edzako or some Vice Admiral dies horribly in fires of nuclear explosions.
300 fighter combat bonus sounds like a lot, what does it do?
How ''Gaia`s Thunderbolts'' sounds?
It applies only to Gun-armed Fighters, which are really not practical until the top-end tech levels.
This game runs inside Access (a database program), so I can't use special characters like the apostrophe ' in names. How about Gaian Thunderbolts?
Forgiven said:Hmm, what year is it?
We now have one full Division (16 Battalions) of Assault Infantry, and when the current build finishes we will have two full Divisions (32 Battalions) of Mobile Infantry. We also have 13 Brigades of Engineers... unlike the Battalion-sized combat units, the Engineer units are Brigade-sized. We still lack HQ units and Heavy Armor, because we lack the techs for those units.
Very nice. Does this include headquarter units?
Do we have any troop transports capable of dropping division-sized ground forces onto a planet?
(Think not, but no rush, still no NPC nations on the horizon ..)
How are things progressing on the salvage front?
