What exactly do you get from a salvaged alien ship?

What exactly do you get from a salvaged alien ship?

You always get minerals, and you sometimes get specific info on the techs used to construct it (eg: "Evidence of Grav Sensor 28 found in Wreck"), or free research points (eg: "2800 RPs towards Grav Sensor 28 found in Wreck"), and you often get intact ship components such as weapons, engines or sensors, which can either be used to build a one-off Xeno-tech ship or disassembled for minerals and a minor Research Point bonus.

So... are we agreed that recovering those five wrecks in the Tau Ceti system should take priority over a punitive expedition against the Space Dragons in the Gliese 563.2 system?

For now, yes. We're clearly outmatched by the Space Dragons and Tau Ceti gives us an opportunity to catch up.

It would seem wise, for the time being. Any tech we recover won't be so ahead of us that full rebuilds are required to make use of them. Which means refits for all currently serving warships will hopefully be possible.

Salvaging the wrecks is the best option, especially since Tau Ceti seems to be unoccupied.

We have established our first interstellar colony, on the third planet of the Epsilon Eridani system. It currently enjoys the undistinguished name "Epsilon Eridani A-III". Should we rename it?

FYI, the constellation Eridanus (in which sector this star lies) represents the Celestial River, associated with the Po by the Greeks and Romans, and with Eridu by the Babylonians. It is connected with the ancient myth of Phaeton, who went joy-riding in the solar chariot of his father Helios, and was killed by a thunderbolt from Zeus when his irresponsible actions threatened the Earth.

Suggested names for the new colony world?

I suggest Eridu.

If you have surveyed all bodies in Tau Ceti, things should be safe. If you were thorough enough to send the scout to the wrecks, just to make sure there weren't any minefields or sleeping bad guy there, then I don't see where any Prix could lurk in this system.
Would make a fine colonization target, once we know if and where jump points are.
Of course, salvaging the wrecks should be done first; this can only help us being more prepared and with better techs when we'll go back and get revenge on those who got my scout in Gliese 562.

Terraforming efforts on Mars have succeeded in converting the atmosphere of that colony planet to class-0... completely Earth-like. The terraforming stations are now under tow to our Ganymede colony, where they will repeat the process... then on to the Epsilon Eridani A-III colony.
