We will also need to include EM Sensor Strenght before we go in and design sensors and fire control. They should be at the same levels.

True, so would this work for a revised research plan?

1) After Grav Sensor Strength 12, go for EM Sensor Strength 12 with 5-10 labs.
2) After 3x warhead strength, begin research of improved reload rate.
3) After EM done, begin development of Active Search Sensor, followed by ship-to-ship missile radar, and anti-missile radar.
4) After reload rate is done, begin development of magazines, and then Size 10 missile launcher, and size 1 missile launcher.
5) Develop suitable missile of size 10 and size 1 respectively.
6) Design Type-5 missile frigate. Size should be under jump drive, for use in operations.

Guys, how big is the jump drive again?

Size 10 Missile launcher is waste of space. 4 or 6 is enough.

Jump Drive is at 5k tons but should not be fitted to our warships. We have gates for them.

Six then. However, it would be best for a 'jump escort' to be designed, so if a fleet is damaged in battle, the jump escort, can move ships out of the system if there is heavy damage.

Not really, Surt was gone for a few days to vacation but most of the time the vote is handled well. 3 Yes is majority and all is needed to pass.

You can have the jump escort on either side of the JP. So the escort doesn't need to be in the system with the fleet for others to use it. Gate are very useful for freighters and large ships where designing and building the jump drive would be costly and time-consuming.

That's what I mean. The jump escort would hang back, but what I am stating is ships should be designed so they don't go over.

Yeah, the first group of ships will be 5k tons missile destroyers for system defense and force recon. Later, if we do well, we'll research better engines and stuff, maybe for that Battlestar. :D
Indeed.

Might I remind the council that we are currently undefended and we can't wait for the perfect technology to be researched before we design and build some defensive capability.
We risk each day that an enemy task force jumps through one of the jump points and attack the home world so we should immediately go for some ship/base designs to protect the home world.
We could go for something like Dalek original proposal.

TL;DR Keep going as we are, maybe move some more labs to research sensor tech (me) faster.

Remember, we haven't reached a year after the so called TNG Lightbulb event. We spend most of our free RP on stuff that we don't have good scientist for. So spending some time researching tech for stuff we can research well is expected. At the moment, we barely got any good sensor or missile tech (minus the ion missile drive). This is the reason we ask people to wait. We can make it go faster with a few options. Give more labs to Lord Strange (MK) and myself (SF) to complete our short term project sooner, build more labs and give it to either of us or crash research (all 20 on one of us) to get the neccessary techs sooner rather than later.

Dalek's proposal is fine, we're in the process of doing that and Rendap and I seems to be on the same page to hold off til our current tech catch up to the missiles. Our sensors are crap compared to missile capability. We can easily make an anti-missile missile that go 20 million KM but can't detect such missile with reasonable tonnage equipment up to 5 million KM. If we complete our current research goals, we can design and converse materials for an effective defense.

If the council and officers feel really defenseless, we can crash research sensors to catch up and design ships to match.

Keep in mind of our current situation, we're building financial centres and having a good wealth creation administrator (also great miner) to reduce our deficient budget. At the moment, we're losing 44 wealth per month compared to 500 a year ago. We're are devoting 50 percent industrial capacity toward this effort which will complete by end of June 2026. At that time, another Naval Shipyard Complex will be completed while production of Automines continue. 75 of our production will be then tasked to build Military Academy, Infrastructure, and Research labs equally. We have a list of stuff being ordered to build.

We could change a few things to be "optimal". I would like more debate on a few points. One is to focus research to sensor technology a bit more (10 to 15, or all 20 labs would be good). Second, get automines out to high value moon or rocks to get shortfalls and rich access minerals back to Earth in preparation for a fleet. Third, finish our survey of the ENTIRE Sol system, so we know how long til we have to leave our nest and get resources elsewhere. Lastly, but not least, is get a small force on Mars and check out that awesome alien ruin which is giving nerdgasm to geeks on Earth.

Uridium: 650 tons in storage - 2 tons used per week = 325 weeks.
Usage needed: Current supply +1½ year construction.

I'll keep my proposal in place.

It's -2 tons since the last time increment.

Which, according to this post was 8 hours. Not a week.
Now, granted, there was a construction cycle tick in that timeframe, so in reality it'd have been a bit more than a day. But still.

50-50 sounds OK

Done.

Fine, I withdraw my claim and support Sirce.

Also done!

Scientist Sirce is now Head of Economic production

I've renamed the position to make it clearer what exactly the position entails.

I put these proposals on the table:

1) Develop Size 10, Size 1 Missile Launchers
2) Develop long range Search Sensor
3) Develop long range missile launcher sensor, one for missiles, one for ships
4) Develop missiles
5) Build Type-05 Missile Frigate

I'll note here that size 6 is theoretically the most efficiënt size due to the way sensors operate. That size is the biggest size missile that still falls within the smallest detection category for anti-missile detection systems.
Of course, if you plan to design size 10 missiles with a size 6 second stage to penetrate anti-missile defenses with you have my blessing. :)

Just out of curiosity, has the council suffered much from the untimely response of its membership to pending issues?

No, not really. I'm a pretty patient GM. As long as people are still actively discussing things I'm content to wait a bit. The important thing is to keep people interested, acting like a dictator won't help that.
And I like the way the game seems to keep attracting more interest as things progress, so I must be doing something right :p

That being said, the current discussion shouldn't hold up the game, given the consensus seems to be to wait for missile research to advance a bit, so I'm going to advance time a bit more .. soon.
(I am having some network issues though. If I can't download the game file I can't advance time..)

These proposals will be done after the current round of research. 2 and 3 will be done after we finish Sensor 12. 1 will be done after we get to reload rate of... 4) will be done after Strange finishes. 5 Will be done after all the prior ones are done.

Since I tend to be quite short on memory, please bring this back on the table at that time.
*especially* since I'll be leaving on a 12-day holiday october first; At that point either you guys will have to wait, or find someone to download the game file and take the game forward in my absense.

The sensor proposal is on the table

Not exactly a proposal since I feel like we keep shifting stuff around and jumping the fence often while the game haven't reach 1 year yet. However, if we really want defense soon, sensors is the bottleneck right now. Everything else is pretty much on track.

I've updated the first page specificially listing appointed council positions.
Rendap, Adamus, Sirce: Would you guys each like to appoint yourself an assistant/2nd in command?

Not needed at this point. I'm rarely away from the forum longer than 12-16 hours at a time.

BTW: How do people feel about creating a geology team right now?

We now have some nice rocks to banish send these people to and get them a little training, yes?

Please assign Commander Onbekende and Lt. Commanders Daniels and Read to the 3 Xorn constructed.

Suggest leaving Pacific as is - We will likely not need vast numbers of Troop Transporters and retooling takes Neutronium.
Suggest Retooling Afrika to San Andreas. Retooling to take place so it completes 10 days after construction of the Cranes complete.
Restate suggestion to build 3 Mayflowers at Pacific.
Suggest to appoint 1 person as primary Shipyard Handler for Civilian Yards
Naval Yards should remain at the council for now and tie in with the overall strategy.

I see no reason to commence mining on Mars at this point. There is Duranium, which we can get from Charon as well and Sorium which is not critical at the moment.

My Adjusted recommendation:

50 - Neutron Rock
50 - Charon

As both of these have passed, I have started implementing them.

- Commanders have been assigned. Onbekende is in charge of the Eminem, Read of the Rihanna, Daniels of the J-Lo.

- Afrika retool:

Starting that retool right now will complete it on april 3th. That's 24 days before the crane construction finishes, so I'll have to delay this by 34 days for it to take effect as requested, 10 days after crane construction finishes.

- Mayflower construction has started:

- Two task forces have been created for the hauling of automated mines to our two new mining colonies:

The Eminem is tasked with bringing a civilian administrator and an automated mine to Neutron Rock.

This is fairly short distance. The screenshot doesnt show order completion time; Full turnaround time for this single trip is expected to be 9 days, 8 hours, 32 minutes.

The second task group comprises of the J-Lo and the Rihanna, and is charged with dropping another NPC planetary governor and 2 automated mines on Charon.

Again, the order doesn't show the full completion time; These ships are expected to be back on earth in 73 days and 21 hours.
edit: This is why I like building freighters with lots of engines .. ;-)

The NPC administrators both have a mining bonus of 5%. The best of these (in other stats) is send to Charon; The other, to Neutron Rock.

If some other arrangment of administrators is desired, please speak up now.

Regarding the geology team; The Bureau of Human Resources suggests the following set of 5 officers:

If this team is to be formed, please notify me which place should be surveyed by them first.
