I've read several excellent books using the combination of mythology and reality and this looks just as good. Looking forward to the adventures of Aud and Olaf.

Morgan Llwellyn's books are great for that kind of thing if you like Celtic History/Mythology. Bard, Druid, Red Branch, and The Horse Goddess by Llwellyn are especially good.
Also check out Stephen Lawhead. His
Pendragon Cycle is a good mix of Arthurian legend and Celto-Roman Britain in the Dark Ages. His
Song of Albion Trilogy is another good Celtic Mythology novel.
Can you tell I'm a Celto-phile? Actually I love Nordic mythology just as well. I think the whole concept of Ragnarok is great! You know the whole "God's versus giants, and even though we already know the gods lose in the end we're still on their side because they're the good guys." I'm not very familiar with Nordic mythology/history adaptations though. Tolkein of course does the best job of doing fantasy stories with a Nordic feel.
