Alright - so a couple nights ago, I started a new AoW Chickasaw game. The plan was to go fully defensive, and then gain the guerrilla warfare policy. This would lead to a combined +3 attrition damage on foreign invading forces. This, plus a +200% hostile core creation cost, due to national ideas and aristocracy, would be enough to deter any would-be European aggressor. I colonized up and down the coast, but I wasn't quick enough to obtain all of (or even most of) the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The English moved in too quickly. I did, however, get all of the Chesapeake, and pushed into Ohio a bit. This irked the English, and they attack. I pop some mercs and scorched all the border towns. Now, at this point, I had a +2 attrition damage due to being fully defensive and Chickasaw.
The result? Nothing noticeable. Even in the arctic provinces, their 15k-20k stacks didn't decrease. At all.
Pre-1.8, I had used the Creek and did the same thing - which would basically melt the big Euro stacks to the point where they could be attacked. At least, that is, until they reached the very high tech levels of the end-game, where the French would be wandering around with 100k+ stacks without consequence (quite realistic).
Has attrition been entirely nerfed out of existence as a mechanic, or am I missing something?
